Measurement of the tractive force and the new adhesion control by the newly developed tractive force measurement equipment

Proceedings of the Power Conversion Conference-Osaka 2002 (Cat. No.02TH8579), 2003
The acceleration and deceleration rate of the train depend on the tractive force. When the wheels of the train slip on the rails, the torque is decreased to avoid the continuous slipping. The reason is that the tractive coefficient between the wheels and the rails has a peak at a certain slip velocity.

Tractive force channel design aid

Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2001
The Manning formula and the tractive force equation are combined and written in terms of dimensionless parameters. Predetermined solutions to this equation have been obtained and presented in chart form. Also, a mathematical expression is obtained that approximates the chart to determine the channel width explicitly.Key words: open channel, design ...

Tractive Force Design of Vegetated Channels

Transactions of the ASAE, 1980
ABSTRACT A method is presented for applying tractive force con-cepts to the design of vegetated channels. The method is developed from previously published data on flow resistance and allowable velocities in grassed water-ways. It is intended for use in its present form as a design tool, but also provides a framework in which to place refinements as ...

Measurement of tractive force during acceleration and deceleration periods

The 8th IEEE International Workshop on Advanced Motion Control, 2004. AMC '04., 2004
The acceleration and deceleration ability of the train depend on the tractive force. When the wheels of the train slip on the rails, the electric torque is decreased to avoid the continuous slipping. This reason is that the tractive coefficient between the wheels and the rails has a peak at a certain slip speed.

Simplified Model of Tractive-Force Distribution in Closed Conduits

Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2005
A simplified model for the computation of boundary shear stress distributions acting on the flow perimeter of closed ducts is presented. The model assumes that the surplus energy within any control volume in a three-dimensional flow will be transferred towards the nearest boundary to be dissipated.

Tractive Force Design for Sanitary Sewer Self-Cleansing

Journal of Environmental Engineering, 2009
The 2007 edition of the ASCE MOP 60-WEF FD 5 Manual recommends the tractive force (TF) method for self-cleansing design for gravity sanitary sewers. TF design is a major improvement over traditional methods to achieve self-cleansing in gravity sewers.

Study of Effect of Tractive Force on Bicycle Self-Stability

Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers A, 2012
This study focuses on the influence of tractive forces on the self-stability of a bicycle. The eigen-value analysis of the self-stability of a passive rider control linear bicycle model can be used to analyze the self-stability. A linear bicycle model with front and rear driving forces is developed.
