Toward global tractography

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2013
Diffusion-based tractography is an ill-posed problem, because the step-by-step reconstruction of a fibre bundle trajectory cannot afford any serious mistake in the evaluation of the local fibre orientations. Such evaluation is difficult, however, because the myriad fibres passing through a single voxel follow different directions.

Tractography in functional neuronavigation

S.S. Korsakov Journal of Neurology and Psychiatry, 2023
The review addresses the combined use of tractography and neuronavigation. Fundamentals of diffusion tensor imaging are given, technical aspects of fiber tracking in general and in depicting separate subcortical tracts are described. Main advantages of the method and possible causes of errors are highlighted.

Active Cortex Tractography

2021
Most existing diffusion tractography algorithms are affected by gyral bias, causing the termination of streamlines at gyral crowns instead of sulcal banks. In this paper, we propose a tractography technique, called active cortex tractography (ACT), to overcome gyral bias by enabling fiber streamlines to curve naturally into the cortex. We show that the

Tractography of the Median Nerve

Seminars in Musculoskeletal Radiology, 2009
The median nerve is one of the most commonly affected peripheral nerves in various pathologies such as entrapment syndromes or transections. The diagnostic procedures applied in these situations are electromyography, physical examination methods, ultrasonography, and magnetic resonance imaging.

Validation of Tractography

2009
The validation of tractography is fundamental to the implementation of the technique as a useful biomedical tool. The technique has the potential to help in the diagnosis of patients suffering from brain injury and disease, as well as providing insights into basic neuroscience.

MITK global tractography

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
Fiber tracking algorithms yield valuable information for neurosurgery as well as automated diagnostic approaches. However, they have not yet arrived in the daily clinical practice. In this paper we present an open source integration of the global tractography algorithm proposed by Reisert et.al.1 into the open source Medical Imaging Interaction ...

Fast Approximate Stochastic Tractography

Neuroinformatics, 2011
Many different probabilistic tractography methods have been proposed in the literature to overcome the limitations of classical deterministic tractography: (i) lack of quantitative connectivity information; and (ii) robustness to noise, partial volume effects and selection of seed region.
