Sub‐1 ms Optoelectronic Synapse Based on {ZnCdO/ZnO} Multilayer Structure for High‐Speed Neuromorphic Vision Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Eu‐doped {ZnCdO/ZnO} structures grown on Si are developed, showcasing dual‐functionality controlled by europium doping. While high europium concentration transforms the device into an ultrafast, self‐powered photodetector, low‐doped structures can be used as an optoelectronic synapse.

Pareto task inference analysis reveals cellular trade-offs in diffuse large B-Cell lymphoma transcriptomic data

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Biology
One of the main challenges in cancer treatment is the selection of treatment resistant clones which leads to the emergence of resistance to previously efficacious therapies.

Hybrid Ferroelectric Tunnel Junctions with Intrinsic Nonlinearity and Self‐Rectification via Interfacial Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Rapid thermal annealing reconstructs the BCFO/Nb:STO interface into an atomically thin reconstructed interfacial layer, which reshapes the tunneling barrier and converts a high‐TER ferroelectric tunnel junction into an intrinsically nonlinear, self‐rectifying device.

Sacrificial‐Layer‐Assisted Heat‐Affected‐Zone Suppression in Laser Patterning of PET for High‐Performance Flexible Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A removable sacrificial polymer layer engineers the thermal boundary condition during nanosecond laser ablation of PET, suppressing heat‐affected‐zone formation without relying on costly ultrafast lasers. This strategy enables deep, high‐aspect‐ratio trenches with no detectable heat‐affected zone, templating silver‐filled mesh electrodes with record ...

Nitride MXenes Beyond Carbides: Bridging the Gap Between Computational Prediction and Experimental Realization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nitride MXenes remain constrained by a persistent gap between computational prediction and experimental realization. This Review identifies the thermodynamic, kinetic, and chemical barriers limiting their synthesis, critically evaluates emerging fabrication routes, and proposes a multidimensional computational‐experimental framework to accelerate the ...

Co-benefits and trade-offs of UK climate actions: a systematic rapid evidence assessment and rating of effects on climate adaptation and mitigation outcomes [WPE2 deliverable E2.3: final report]

open access: yes
The aim of this work package (WPE2) was to build an understanding of the co-benefits and trade-offs between climate mitigation and adaptation in the United Kingdom (UK) to inform the Government’s efforts to promote decarbonisation and resilience ...

Full‐Field Damage Monitoring in Architected Lattices Using In situ Electrical Impedance Tomography

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ electrical impedance tomography (EIT) turns 3D‐printed, CNT‐infused architected lattices into full‐field damage‐imaging systems. Tunable Voronoi‐based geometries act as active sensing architectures, enabling conductivity maps to detect early‐stage damage and localise sequential ligament fracture before catastrophic failure.
