Imitation, Innovation and International Trade

open access: yesEast Asian Economic Review, 2004
A North-South country model with imitation, innovation and simplified tariff structure is developed in this paper. Peculiar to this paper is that effects of change in trade policy on imitation and innovation in steady-state is analyzed. Specifically, two

ANALYSIS OF BRAZILIAN EXPORTS OF CONIFER WOOD MOLDINGS THROUGH GRAVITY TRADE MODEL1

open access: yesRevista Árvore, 2018
This study aimed to analyze Brazilian exports of softwood moldings between the years 1997-2013, by means of a gravity trade model. The main explanatory variables used were GDP of Brazil, importing country´s GDP, and distance between Brazil and its trade ...

Trade Facilitation and Global Supply Chains : The Role of FTA Trade Facilitation Rules in Promoting Global Supply Chains [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of International Logistics and Trade, 2014
One of the important goals of trade facilitation is to lower the costs of trade that serve as a barrier to the developing countries from enjoying the benefits of increased trade and becoming integrated into global supply chains that account for nearly 60

Trade Barriers and Trade Flows Across Countries and Industries [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Finance Discussion Papers, 1994
We use disaggregated data on trade flows, production, and trade barriers for 41 countries in 1988 to examine the political and economic determinants of non-tariff barriers, as well as the impact of protection (both tariff and non-tariff) on trade flows. We use an econometric framework that allows for the simultaneous detennination of trade barriers and

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Superposition states of ultracold bosons in rotating rings with a realistic potential barrier

open access: yes, 2011
In a recent paper [Phys. Rev. A 82, 063623 (2010)] Hallwood et al. argued that it is feasible to create large superposition states with strongly interacting bosons in rotating rings.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

African Swine Fever Virus F317L Protein Inhibits NF-κB Activation To Evade Host Immune Response and Promote Viral Replication

open access: yesmSphere, 2021
African swine fever (ASF) is one of the most important pig diseases, causing a high case fatality rate and trade restrictions upon reported outbreaks. The limited understanding of the functions of the proteins of the causative agent, African swine fever ...
