Weathering the storm: Effect of climate change on acute stroke care and stroke rehabilitation

open access: yesPM&R, EarlyView.
Abstract Climate change has deleterious effects on stroke recovery, disproportionately affecting populations with increased stroke incidence. These effects start prior to the acute care hospitalization, precipitated by environmental etiologies and are sustained throughout the life course of stroke survivors.

Research on Analysis Method of Traffic Congestion Mechanism Based on Improved Cell Transmission Model

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2012
To analyze the spreading regularity of the initial traffic congestion, the improved cell transmission model (CTM) is proposed to describe the evolution mechanism of traffic congestion in regional road grid.

A Windowed Transportation Planning Model [PDF]

open access: yes
This research develops and applies a transportation planning model that integrates regional and local area forecasting approaches. While regional models have the scope to model the interaction of demand and congestion, they lack the spatial detail of a ...

Event‐Triggered Saturating Control for Synchronization of Lur'e Type Complex Dynamic Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article addresses the problem of synchronizing discrete‐time Lur'e type complex dynamic networks (CDNs) via dynamic event‐triggered control. In particular, it is considered that the control signal of each node is subject to input saturation. Using the Lyapunov Stability Theory, properties of slope‐restricted nonlinearities, and the linear

Assessing the Impact of Game Day Schedule and Opponents on Travel Patterns and Route Choice using Big Data Analytics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The transportation system is crucial for transferring people and goods from point A to point B. However, its reliability can be decreased by unanticipated congestion resulting from planned special events. For example, sporting events collect large crowds

System Integration and Field Testing of Low‐Cost Autonomous Platooning Platforms: Collision Avoidance Scenario

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents the development and validation of a scalable platooning system based on the predecessor‐following (PF) topology, designed for low‐cost follower platforms. It integrates key technologies such as localization, path planning, profile generation, and low‐level control to create a practical solution.

Three-phase traffic theory and two-phase models with a fundamental diagram in the light of empirical stylized facts

open access: yes, 2010
Despite the availability of large empirical data sets and the long history of traffic modeling, the theory of traffic congestion on freeways is still highly controversial.

IDLB: An SDN‐Based Load‐Balancing Routing Protocol for Autonomous Satellite Constellation Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Routing in satellite constellation networks with intersatellite links has become an important aspect to enable broadband Internet access and to integrate into terrestrial networks. However, their dynamic characteristics and large physical size require specifically tailored solutions.

Urban Congestion Charging: Theory, Practice and Environmental Consequences [PDF]

open access: yes
The theory of road pricing developed for single links suggests time andlocation varying charges equal to the marginal congestion cost at the efficientlevel of traffic.
