Energy-saving adaptive computing and traffic engineering for real-time-service data centers

open access: closed2015 IEEE International Conference on Communication Workshop (ICCW), 2015
In this paper, we propose a traffic engineering-based adaptive approach to dynamically reconfigure the computing-plus-communication resources of networked data centers which support in real-time the service requirements of mobile clients connected by TCP/IP energy-limited wireless backbones.

Work in progress: Constructing a multidisciplinary design project for first-year engineering and Computing students: Traffic Simulation Engineering Design Challenge

open access: closed2012 Frontiers in Education Conference Proceedings, 2012
Teaching first-year students is a balance between introducing technical content and providing perspective for students to forge connections to the context of what engineers do. Making the possible impact of engineers real and visible to introductory students in an authentic manner can be challenging.

Video Rate Adaptation and Traffic Engineering in Mobile Edge Computing and Caching-Enabled Wireless Networks

open access: closed2017 IEEE 86th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC-Fall), 2017
Recent advances in software-defined mobile networks (SDMNs), in-network caching, and mobile edge computing (MEC) can have great effects on video services in next generation mobile networks. In this paper, we jointly consider SDMNs, in- network caching, and MEC to enhance the video service in next generation mobile networks.

On the integrated control of virtual machine live migration and traffic engineering for cloud computing

open access: closed2012 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2012
Virtual machine live migration, which migrates a virtual machine between data centers, is studied as a way to improve quality of services hosted on clouds. Meanwhile, traffic engineering is performed in networks that connect geographically-dispersed data centers. These two controls are originally designed and operated individually.

Hardware based scalable path computation engine for multilayer traffic engineering in GMPLS networks

2008 34th European Conference on Optical Communication, 2008
A parallel data-flow hardware based path computation engine that makes multilayer traffic engineering more scalable is proposed. The engine achieves 100 times faster than conventional path computation scheme.
