A formal model of urban traffic management in a network of four intersections is developed. The aim of the study is to reduce the queues of cars in front of traffic lights and increase the outflow of cars from each intersection in the network. The methodology used for the formalization is the application of bi-level optimization.

NUMA systems are characterized by Non-Uniform Memory Access times, where accessing data in a remote node takes longer than a local access. NUMA hardware has been built since the late 80's, and the operating systems designed for it were optimized for access locality. They co-located memory pages with the threads that accessed them, so as to

NBBS traffic management overview
IBM Systems Journal, 1995In this paper, we describe an integrated set of procedures used for bandwidth management and congestion control in high-speed packet-switched networks such as asynchronous transfer mode (ATM), which are part of IBM's Networking BroadBand Services (NBBS) architecture.

Traffic Self-Organization and Traffic Management
International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2009, 2009Traffic congestion and the high rate of traffic accidents are main problems of urban transportation in China. So it's necessary to propose scientific and efficient traffic management idea and methods. Through the analysis of traffic self-organizing phenomena and its mechanism, the paper discussed how to manage urban traffic using self-organization ...

Socially-Aware Traffic Management
2014Socially-aware traffic management utilizes social information to optimize traffic management in the Internet in terms of traffic load, energy consumption, or end user satisfaction. Several use cases can benefit from socially-aware traffic management and the performance of overlay applications can be enhanced.

As network complexity will grow to accommodate new users and applications, traffic management relying on humans will fall short. At the same time, the rise of global services and mobile users will make single-domain, self-interested traffic management adversarial. Autonomous and cooperative traffic management could serve future networks better.
