Detection and Segmentation of Elements in Traffic: A Survey

open access: yes, 2021
As one of the important applications of computer vision, the study of object detection has been deeply explored by many researchers. Some of its sub-topics, for instance, face detection and pedestrian detection, have already been applied in real-world applications.

Ferroelectric Devices for In‐Memory and In‐Sensor Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inspired by biological systems, in‐memory and in‐sensor computing overcome von Neumann bottlenecks. Ferroelectric devices can mimic synaptic functions and sense stimuli like light or force, therefore are ideal for these paradigms. This review introduces the ferroelectric devices applied for in‐memory and in‐sensor computing, covering their structures ...

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Fine‐Tuned Regulation of mRNA Translation and Transport by STAU2 Condensate Facilitates Neuronal Development and Plasticity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
STAU2 undergoes phase separation to form dynamic condensates that package target mRNAs and deliver them to the distal ends of growing neuronal dendrites. STAU2 condensates stabilize embedded mRNAs and repress their translation. Synaptic activity bidirectionally remodels STAU2 condensates, coordinating local translation of STAU2‐associated mRNAs ...

Evaluation of Semantic Segmentation Performance for a Multimodal Roadside Vehicle Detection System on the Edge

open access: yesSensors
Discretely monitoring traffic systems and tracking payloads on vehicle targets can be challenging when traversal occurs off main roads where overhead traffic cameras are not present. This work proposes a portable roadside vehicle detection system as part

Lactation is Associated with Accelerated Postpartum Pelvic Floor Muscle Recovery in a Pregnant Simulated Birth Injury Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Healthy pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) are essential for proper pelvic floor function. The biggest risk factor for PFM dysfunction is injury sustained during vaginal childbirth, yet the factors that facilitate or impair PFM recovery from birth injury remain unknown.

Beyond Conventional Monitoring: A Semantic Segmentation Approach to Quantifying Traffic-Induced Dust on Unsealed Roads

open access: yesSensors
Road dust is a mixture of fine and coarse particles released into the air due to an external force, such as tire–ground friction or wind, which is harmful to human health when inhaled. Continuous dust emission from the road surfaces is detrimental to the

A Microgel Platform Enables Site‐Specific Intestinal Delivery of Lactoferrin, Improving its Bioavailability for Targeted Alleviating Liver Injury and Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work first time reports an eco‐friendly desert plant food‐based polysaccharide ASKP microgels which have intestinal site‐specific release properties which can achieve small‐intestine or colon targeting capability via different cross‐linking chemistry.

NLSS3 Impairs SHM1 Autophagic Degradation to Regulate Leaf Morphology and Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In rice, NLSS3 binds and shields SHM1 from autophagic degradation to maintain serine homeostasis. The A132P mutation in nlss3 disrupts this, triggering SHM1 loss, metabolic dysfunction, K+ imbalance, and impaired ROS scavenging, which collectively drive narrow leaves and salt sensitivity.
