Replacement Policies fro traffic control signals

IMA Journal of Management Mathematics, 1998
Summary: We discuss the application of two types of maintenance policy for multi-component systems to find good schedules for the replacement of lightbulbs in traffic control systems. Both types are based on the fact that in general many lamps function close together, implying that economies of scale can be obtained by combining replacements.

On Distributed Traffic Signal Control

2015 IEEE 18th International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2015
Distributed control mechanisms have been studied in past decades in different application areas. Currently, multiagent systems are a popular topic also in ITS systems, where numerous approaches to distribution of system intelligence are being tested. One of the main problems in distributed control, however, remains the guarantee of reaching the global ...

Automatic traffic signal control systems

Proceedings of the May 14-16, 1969, spring joint computer conference on XX - AFIPS '69 (Spring), 1969
Like a number of fast growing North American cities, Metropolitan Toronto is faced with the ever increasing problems of greater motor vehicle traffic volume, congestion and accidents. Metropolitan Toronto today has more than 700,000 vehicles registered in its 240 square miles, for a per capita density that rates behind only Los Angeles.

Traffic signal control by Egograms

2001 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics. Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8556), 2002
We present the traffic signal control method for avoiding the traffic jam by applying the simulator for the interpersonal relation using Egograms. Egograms consist of 5 categories: critical parents, nurturing parents, adult, free child and adapted child. In this simulator, we prepare the computer agent which has Egograms obtained by a human subject. We

Traffic Signal Control Algorithms of a Traffic Network

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1995
Abstract Traffic signal control algorithms of a traffic network are presented using a hierarchical control concept. The traffic congestion mechanism is described quantitatively based on the traffic volume balance at each signalized intersection. The traffic signal control system of the traffic congestion length is described by a linear time-varying ...

Traffic signal control on similarity logic reasoning

Fuzzy Sets and Systems, 2003
The aim of the study is twofold. In the mathematical part the authors derive a new algorithm to construct fuzzy IF-THEN inference systems. The algorithm utilizes Łukasiewicz many-valued equivalence. Its design has the special feature that whenever the output is not unique, the final decision should be left to a human expert.
