A discrete-event mesoscopic traffic simulation model for hybrid traffic simulation

2006 IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference, 2006
The paper presents a mesoscopic traffic simulation model, particularly suited for the development of integrated meso-micro traffic simulation models. The model combines a number of the recent advances in simulation modeling, such as discrete-event time resolution and combined queue-server and speed-density modeling, with a number of new features such ...

Queueing Simulation in Heavy Traffic

Mathematics of Operations Research, 1992
The heavy traffic behavior of a number of standard queueing simulation procedures like sample averaging and regenerative simulation is studied. In particular, limit theorems based upon Brownian approximations are given in a double limit with both the sample size t tending to infinity and the traffic intensity ρ tending to one.

Traffic simulation

ACM SIGCSE Bulletin, 1998
In teaching object oriented design, it is important for students to work on projects that use a variety of design patterns, interaction between objects, and provide the opportunity to explore design options in a realistic setting. Originally, object oriented languages have been designed for use in building simulations. We use a familiar simulation of a

Simulation of traffic flows in a network

Communications of the ACM, 1969
A computer simulation program which deals with traffic flows in the network of a large area is described. Each road is segmented into blocks of several ten-meter lengths and is represented by a bidirectional list in computer memory. The movement of cars, i.e. the transfer of cars from one block to the next, is expressed by a proper formula.

Traffic simulation and intelligent agents

2009 International Conference for Internet Technology and Secured Transactions, (ICITST), 2009
The development process of Multi-Agent Systems has similar features to standard information systems. However, there are special requests that have to be taken into account, e.g. general MAS architecture, internal architecture of particular agents, their autonomy and communication.

Models, Traffic Models, Simulation, and Traffic Simulation

2010
This introductory chapter to a book on traffic simulation fundamentals is aimed at setting up a comprehensive framework for simulation as a well-established and grounded OR technique and its specificities when applied to traffic systems; the main approaches to traffic simulation and the principles of traffic simulation model building; the fundamentals ...

Traffic jam modeling and simulation

2012 15th International IEEE Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2012
In this paper various theories on traffic jams and stop-and-go wave modeling were reviewed and discussed. These include traditional microscopic car-following model, asymmetric traffic theory, first-order and second-order macroscopic models, traffic disturbance model, phase transition model as well as macroscopic simulation. The mechanism of stop-and-go

Freeway Traffic Qualitative Simulation

2005
A new freeway traffic simulator based on a deep model behaviour is proposed. This simulator is defined and developed for helping human traffic operators in taking decisions about predictive control actions in situations prior to congestion. The simulator uses qualitative tags and cognitive events to represent the traffic status and evolution and the ...

Simulation Of Traffic Lights Control

ECMS 2010 Proceedings edited by A Bargiela S A Ali D Crowley E J H Kerckhoffs, 2009
Simulation of traffic control is very important nowadays for dealing with increasing urban traffic. It helps to construct the strategy of traffic lights switching and determine alternative path in the case of an accident or traffic jam. In the paper we present the application of simulation tool DYNASIM being used by French company DYNALOGIC. It has big

Traffic simulator with a digital computer

Papers presented at the February 7-9, 1956, joint ACM-AIEE-IRE western computer conference on - AIEE-IRE '56 (Western), 1956
Many mathematical models of traffic flow have been advanced in the past. Not all of these models are adaptable to situations involving complicated networks and control systems. A further difficulty is the insufficient number of specially trained traffic engineers who are capable of using these mathematical methods.
