Traffic Volume Forecasting Model of Freeway Toll Stations During Holidays – An SVM Model

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb), 2022
Support vector machine (SVM) models have good performance in predicting daily traffic volume at toll stations, however, they cannot accurately predict holiday traffic volume. Therefore, an improved SVM model is proposed in this paper.

Heavy metal concentrations in the outdoor and indoor air of high-traffic areas in Tehran, Iran [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Environmental Health Research, 2020
Tehran is a polluted metropolitan and the capital of Iran, where heavy traffic and excessive energy consumption (especially gasoline) are the major sources of heavy metal emissions.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Development of a Method for Estimating Traffic Volume Fluctuations That Considers Calendar Information and Road Network Geometry

open access: yesIEEE Access
This study aims to develop a method for estimating the traffic volume at locations and time periods where past data are unavailable. To achieve this, we constructed a model based on seven years of traffic volume observations on 22 main roads in Tokyo ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Index for assessing the condition of flexible urban pavements based on a constructivist multicriteria analysis

open access: yesRevista Ingeniería de Construcción, 2021
The main methods for assessing pavement condition do not consider the factors involved in pavement deterioration. Thus, the objective of this research was to develop a current pavement condition index that took into account the factors that lead to ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Right-Turn Traffic Volume Adjustment in Traffic Signal Warrant Analysis [PDF]

open access: yesTransportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2016
An intersection with heavy right-turn volumes, without any reduction, might mislead a signal warrant analysis, and a different conclusion may be reached on whether a signal is warranted. Previous right-turn volume reduction methods based mostly on engineering judgment lack specific theoretical backgrounds.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Advancing and lagging effects of weather conditions on intercity traffic volume: A geographically weighted regression analysis in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

open access: yesInternational Journal of Transportation Science and Technology
With the rapid expansion of urban areas, intercity highways have become crucial for daily transportation. Traffic administrators and planners increasingly rely on evaluating highway traffic volume.
