A physics‐informed generative framework introduces Directional Latent Hybridization (DLH) for the deterministic inverse design of nonlinear metamaterials. By hybridizing dominant traits from parent geometries in the latent space, DLH overcomes the instabilities of stochastic models to ensure high structural precision at high densities.

In Situ Two‐Dimensional Residual Stress Characterization of Thin Films
An integrated in situ curvature metrology platform combining speckle‐based curvature optical metrology (SCOM) with multi‐beam optical sensors (MOS) enables spatially resolved two‐dimensional curvature mapping of thick sputtered coatings. The SCOM technique provides excellent agreement with MOS while providing an extended measurable curvature range ...

Death, Catastrophe, and the Significance of Tragedy
This NANO note will examine the tension between representation, memorial, and the catastrophe of death that emerges in the space of tragedy, as the problem arises in two quite different works: Oedipus at Colonus, a fairly typical fifth-century Greek ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.
