Abstract Muscle cramps are painful, involuntary contractions thought to arise from altered spinal motoneuron excitability, potentially involving persistent inward currents (PICs). We examined whether cramp susceptibility is associated with altered PIC‐related motoneuron behaviour and whether electrically induced cramp modifies these estimates.
