trans-Anethole of Fennel Oil is a Selective and Nonelectrophilic Agonist of the TRPA1 Ion Channel. [PDF]

open access: yesMol Pharmacol, 2019
Transient receptor potential (TRP) cation channels are molecular targets of various natural products. TRPA1, a member of TRP channel family, is specifically activated by natural products such as allyl isothiocyanate (mustard oil), cinnamaldehyde (cinnamon), and allicin (garlic).

Effect of Organic and Bio-Fertilization on Fruit Yield, Bioactive Constituents, and Estragole Content in Fennel Fruits

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Fennel fruits (Foeniculum vulgare Mill.) represent one of the plant-based natural spices. This study aims to improve the fruit yield and essential oil (EO) quality by reducing the undesirable component, estragole, under different fertilizer treatments ...

Suppression of airway inflammation by Illicium verum and trans-anethole

open access: yesIntegrative Medicine Research, 2015
Purpose: To develop antiasthmatic agent, Illicium verum and its major components were evaluated on their suppression effect in the ariway inflammation. Furthermore we have studied the molecular mechanism of trans-anethole compound concerning Treg cell mediated suppression.

Detection of N‑Acetyl‑S‑[3′-(4-methoxyphenyl)allyl]‑l‑Cys (AMPAC) in Human Urine Samples after Controlled Exposure to Fennel Tea: A New Metabolite of Estragole and trans-Anethole

open access: yes, 2019
Fennel and other herbs contain the secondary plant metabolites estragole and trans-anethole, of which estragole is carcinogenic in rodents. It is metabolically activated by cytochrome P450-catalyzed conversion to 1′-hydroxyestragole and subsequent sulfo ...

Pure Gaussian Apodisation Reduces Integral Crosstalk Sensitivity in Quantitative NMR

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Chemistry, EarlyView.
Exponential apodisation redistributes peak area away from its centre, which increases crosstalk with neighbouring peaks and reduces integral trueness when integrating between defined regions. A pure Gaussian apodisation limits wing growth: Crosstalk between peaks is not worsened, and trueness is conserved during integration.

Insecticidal Activity of Compounds of Plant Origin on Mahanarva spectabilis (Hemiptera: Cercopidae)

open access: yesInsects, 2019
The damage caused by spittlebugs varies according to the species of grass, and the losses can reach alarming levels. Measures for population control are currently restricted to the use of resistant grasses and the diversification of pastures.
