ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF SHARDING ON THE SCALABILITY AND EFFICIENCY OF BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE CREATION OF INFORMATION-ANALYTICAL SYSTEMS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING OF EMISSIONS INTO THE ENVIRONMENT

open access: yesScientific Journal of Astana IT University
This study examines the impact of sharding on the scalability and efficiency of blockchain systems, specifically in the development of a complex of intelligent information and communication systems for environmental monitoring of emissions into the ...

Transaction Frequency and Hedging in Commodity Processing [PDF]

open access: yes
This study examines the effect of transaction frequency on profit and cash flow risk for firms that periodically purchase inputs, continuously transform inputs into outputs, and periodically sell output.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

A queue-oriented transaction processing paradigm [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 20th International Middleware Conference Doctoral Symposium, 2019
Transaction processing has been an active area of research for several decades. A fundamental characteristic of classical transaction processing protocols is non-determinism, which causes them to suffer from performance issues on modern computing environments such as main-memory databases using many-core, and multi-socket CPUs and distributed ...

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

TRANSACTION FREQUENCY, INVENTORIES AND HEDGING IN COMMODITY PROCESSING [PDF]

open access: yes
This study examines hedging strategies for commodity processors generally and soybean crushers specifically. Processors require hedging strategies built around processing multiple batches each year.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Concurrency Conflict Modeling for Asynchronous Processing in Blockchain-Based Transactive Energy Systems

open access: yesMathematics
Blockchain is widely adopted for decentralized transaction management in systems like Transactive Energy (TE). Unfortunately, conventional blockchains with sequential models and restrictive participation rules do not meet energy sector requirements. High

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.
