Pediatric Transbronchial Lung Biopsy
Annals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology, 1992A retrospective review of 25 transbronchial lung biopsies in 19 pediatric patients is reported. Nineteen of these procedures used a rigid ventilating bronchoscope and a small cup biopsy forceps. The indications included diffuse pulmonary infiltrates in the immunocompromised patient, severe hyaline membrane disease, tumor, and lung transplant.

Transbronchial Biopsy in Lymphangiomyomatosis of the Lung HMB45 for Diagnosis [PDF]
We have investigated the presence of smooth muscle cells with immunoreactivity for melanoma-related marker HMB45 in pulmonary lymphangiomyomatosis (PLAM). Of 75 lung specimens, including a variety of lesions (obtained with both transbronchial and open lung biopsies), only PLAM (six specimens from three patients) showed the presence of HMB45-positive ...

Transbronchial Lung Biopsy Using Cryoprobes
Archivos De Bronconeumologia, 2010Transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) is a bronchoscopy procedure used to obtain peripheral lung tissue. Small size samples and artefacts lead to variable, and usually poor, diagnostic yield. The use of cryoprobes may enable larger size and better quality biopsy samples to be obtained.

Transbronchial Lung Biopsy for the Diagnosis of Sarcoidosis
New England Journal of Medicine, 1975To evaluate the efficacy of transbronchial lung biopsy in the diagnosis of sarcoidosis, 26 consecutive patients with clinical features of sarcoidosis underwent this procedure during fiberoptic bronchoscopy. In 21, the biopsy revealed noncaseating granuloma and, in the remaining five, normal lung parenchyma.

Transbronchial Lung Biopsy [PDF]
STUDY OBJECTIVES: To determine the bronchoscopist's ability to predict specimen quality at the time of transbronchial biopsy and to determine the influence of biopsy specimen size and alveolar content on diagnostic value.
