Machine Learning‐Based Prediction of Mortality in Patients With Mitral Regurgitation: Results From Two Nationwide, Prospective Studies

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Using two nationwide prospective Chinese cohorts totaling nearly 11,000 patients with significant mitral regurgitation, we developed and externally validated a CatBoost‐based machine learning model for all‐cause mortality prediction. The model achieved AUCs of 0.783 internally and 0.703 externally, outperforming the Cox model, MitraScore, and EuroSCORE

Transcatheter closure of aortopulmonary window.

open access: yesIndian heart journal, 2005
Aortopulmonary window is an uncommon congenital cardiac defect. Most infants presenting with aortopulmonary window will require conventional surgical repair. Experience with transcatheter closure of aortopulmonary window is limited. We report the case of a 9-year-old girl with aortopulmonary window, in whom transcatheter closure was performed ...

Antithrombotic Therapy Use in Children With Pulmonary Hypertension

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 16, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The role of antithrombotic therapy in pulmonary hypertension (PH) remains uncertain, with conflicting adult data and limited pediatric evidence. This study aimed to describe real‐world antithrombotic use in pediatric PH utilizing Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Network (PPHNet) registry data and a survey of PPHNet centers. We analyzed data of

Transcatheter Potts Shunt in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension After Patent Ductus Arteriosus Closure

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 16, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT We report the case of an 18‐year‐old female with progressive, end‐stage pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) despite receiving maximal triple combination therapy. The patient had a history of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure at 15 months of age.

Early Multicenter Outcomes of Dedicated Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement for Left Ventricular Assist Device‐Associated Pure Aortic Regurgitation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 50, Issue 10, Page 1427-1433, October 2026.
LVAD‐associated aortic regurgitation impairs circulatory support, with limited surgical and off‐label options. In a multicenter registry (n = 30), the AR‐dedicated JenaValve Trilogy TAVR eliminated AR, achieving 96.7% (29/30) technical success and 93.3% (28/30) device success (VARC‐3), with 3.3% (1/30) 30‐day mortality.

Longitudinal Left Atrial Remodeling With Pharmacological Rhythm Versus Rate Control in Paroxysmal and Persistent Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesEchocardiography, Volume 43, Issue 10, October 2026.
Among patients with paroxysmal or persistent atrial fibrillation, pharmacological rhythm control was associated with more favorable longitudinal left atrial remodeling than rate control. LAVI increased during rate control but remained stable during rhythm control, with an adjusted 9.38 mL/m2 lower follow‐up LAVI. The association was also observed among

Outcome of Atrial Septal Closures, Catheterizations vs Surgery

open access: yesمجلة الكوفة الطبية
Background: Atrial septal defects (ASDs) are common congenital heart defects in children, with secundum ASD being the most prevalent. While surgery was once the main treatment, catheter-based closure now offers a less invasive alternative.

Temporary atrioventricular complete block that develops following the transcatheter closure of ventricular septal defect

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2012
Atrioventricular (AV) block is a potential risk after transcatheter closure of perimembranous ventricular septal defect (VSD) with the Amplatzer perimembranous device.
