Transcatheter Closure of Apical Septal Rupture With Third Cavity Formation After Surgical Repair

open access: yesJACC: Case Reports
Background: Apical septal rupture following surgical closure of a ventricular septal defect is a rare but life-threatening complication. Reoperation in such cases may be high risk, making transcatheter closure a viable and less invasive alternative. Case

The durability of different anchoring points and anchoring types in the left ventricle in an ex vivo porcine model

open access: yesClinical Physiology and Functional Imaging, Volume 46, Issue 6, November 2026.
Abstract Objective Surgical mitral valve repair, including anchoring in different parts of the mitral apparatus, is the standard of care for severe mitral regurgitation. Various percutaneous approaches have been developed and are currently under development, but are struggling with durable results.

Modern treatment of patent ductus arteriosus – single center experience

open access: yesJournal of Health Sciences, 2014
Introduction: Transcatheter closure is a treatment choice for the most children with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). The closure of the ductus is indicated in any child or adolescent with developed symptoms of significant L-R shunt.

Recombinant Human Thrombopoietin Reduces the Need for Platelet Transfusion in Patients With Chronic Liver Disease and Thrombocytopenia

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 10, Page 2571-2580, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Chronic liver disease (CLD)‐related thrombocytopenia can limit the feasibility of invasive procedures. Recombinant human thrombopoietin (rhTPO) has demonstrated a favorable safety profile without hepatotoxicity. We evaluated the efficacy and safety of rhTPO in patients with CLD‐related thrombocytopenia who were undergoing elective invasive ...

Aortopulmonary Window Device Closure

open access: yesJournal of the Practice of Cardiovascular Sciences
Aortopulmonary window (APW) is an uncommon congenital cardiac defect. Most infants presenting with APW will undergo conventional surgical repair. Experience with transcatheter closure of APW is limited. We report the case of a 5-year-old boy with APW, in

Percutaneous Transaxillary Access for Large‐Bore Cardiovascular Interventions: Evidence, Technique, and Complication Management

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 108, Issue 4, Page 1186-1197, October 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Percutaneous transaxillary access is an established alternative to transfemoral large‐bore arterial access for transcatheter structural heart interventions and mechanical circulatory support (MCS). Although useful for overcoming hostile iliofemoral anatomy and providing prolonged support and patient mobilization in case of MCS, the axillary ...

Sheath‐to‐Artery Diameter Ratio: A Robust Predictor of Early Access‐Site Adverse Events in Percutaneous Procedures

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 108, Issue 4, Page 1622-1629, October 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Vascular access site complications (VASCs) remain an important source of morbidity following percutaneous interventions. Although the sheath‐to‐femoral artery ratio is a recognized risk factor in transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), its role across a broader range of femoral procedures is less well defined.

Spontaneous Bilateral Vesical Artery Pseudoaneurysms Presenting With Massive Recurrent Hematuria and Obstructive Acute Kidney Injury: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Spontaneous development of vesical artery pseudoaneurysm (VA‐PA) as a cause of life‐threatening hematuria is very rare. Most of the existing reports are due to trauma or other types of pelvic surgeries/urological procedures. Incomplete hemostasis in these patients can lead to subsequent complications such as clot retention, severe blood loss ...

Diagnostic Performance of a Deep Learning Model Using Phonocardiogram and Single‐Lead ECG Signals for Detecting Moderate‐or‐Greater Aortic Stenosis: Multicenter External Validation

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 10, October 2026.
In an independent multicenter cohort of 951 patients undergoing echocardiography, a deep learning model analyzing an 8‐s heart sound and ECG recording detected moderate‐or‐greater aortic stenosis with 92.9% sensitivity and 87.9% specificity. This approach may support the decision to refer patients from auscultation to echocardiography.
