Mitral Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair in Nonagenarians
Canadian Journal of CardiologyThere are scarce data regarding mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) in individuals aged 90 years and above. We aimed to evaluate patient characteristics, procedural aspects, and outcomes in this rapidly growing group. We retrospectively studied a single-centre database of 967 isolated, first-time interventions, 103 (10.7%) of which were ...

Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair for Atrial Secondary Mitral Regurgitation
JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions, 2022Atrial secondary mitral regurgitation (ASMR) is a subtype of SMR that has a poor prognosis, and thus far, evidence of the therapeutic options for the management of ASMR is limited. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) for ASMR.The study retrospectively analyzed consecutive patients who underwent ...

Evolving indications for transcatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair
EuroInterventionTranscatheter mitral edge-to-edge repair (TEER) is an established procedure for managing mitral regurgitation (MR) in high-risk patients. It is effective in treating both primary and secondary MR, as reported in the surgical and interventional literature. Over time, TEER has gained popularity and achieved procedural success in various anatomies.

Robotic Mitral Valve Repair After Failed Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair
The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 2022Mitral valve repair is infrequently performed in patients undergoing corrective surgery for failed mitral transcatheter edge-to-edge repair in current United States practice. This article describes surgical techniques for reconstructive surgery after failed transcatheter edge-to-edge repair. Nine patients underwent robotic-assisted mitral surgery after

Echocardiographic Imaging of the Mitral Valve for Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair
Interventional Cardiology Clinics, 2016Echocardiography continues to be the most effective imaging tool for the diagnosis and follow-up of mitral valve disease. This review addresses the use of transthoracic echocardiography and transesophageal echocardiography in the planning and guidance of transcatheter mitral valve therapies.

Treatment of Functional Mitral Regurgitation with Transcatheter Edge-to-Edge Repair
Interventional Cardiology Clinics, 2019Mitral valve regurgitation is a common valvular lesion affecting approximately 1 in 10 older adults, and it can be broadly categorized as degenerative or functional in etiology. Although transcatheter mitral valve repair with the MitraClip is currently approved for commercial treatment of severe degenerative mitral regurgitation, its role in patients ...

Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair Using the Edge-to-Edge Clip
Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography, 2018Percutaneous intervention for mitral valve (MV) disease has been established as an alternative to open surgical MV repair in patients with prohibitive surgical risk. Multiple percutaneous approaches have been described and are in various stages of development.

Acute mitral regurgitation: The role of transcatheter edge-to-edge repair
Cardiovascular Revascularization MedicineAcute mitral regurgitation (MR) is a critical condition arising from diverse etiologies, including infective endocarditis, ischemic heart disease, stress-induced cardiomyopathy, and iatrogenic injury. While surgical repair or replacement has traditionally served as the standard of care, particularly in emergent cases, the evolution of transcatheter ...

Transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral valve repair in heart failure
Minerva Cardiology and Angiology, 2017Heart failure and severe mitral regurgitation (MR) are mutually dependent. Secondary MR is a consequence of chronic heart failure in patients with severely depressed left ventricular ejection fraction (LV-EF) and LV dilatation. Severe MR in heart failure patients worsens prognosis and accelerates LV dilatation and decline in LV-EF.
