Transcendental philosophy and artificial life [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This investigation is intended to bring to light some reasons for connecting the notion of artificial life to certain kinds of interpretation of transcendental philosophy.

The Bazaar as a Model for Knowledge Work

open access: yesKnowledge and Process Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper presents fieldwork that extends existing metaphors of knowledge work as a process shaped by hierarchical or market forces. A qualitative, ethnographic study of six knowledge‐intensive businesses in two countries identifies striking parallels with the Middle Eastern bazaar in contrast to Western impersonal markets and hierarchies. We

Resonant States Reveal Strong Light–Matter Coupling in Nanophotonic Cavities

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Photonic resonant states reveal characteristics of coupled light–matter systems that would otherwise be hidden by damping. Their trajectories (when tuning the optical resonance) undergo a qualitative change at the onset of strong coupling: They start swapping positions.

Comparison between the transcendental and cyclometric sorption isotherm models [PDF]

open access: yesJournal on Processing and Energy in Agriculture, 2012
In this paper, the results of comparative analysis between transcendental and cyclometric sorption isotherm models are presented. In order to find which model gives the best results, some numerical experiments were made.

Analysis and Study of the Components of Suhrawardi's Theory of Knowledge With regard to Mulla Sadra's Critiques [PDF]

open access: yesحکمت صدرایی, 2019
The problem of knowledge and topics surrounding it have been discussed sporadically in Suhrawardi's works, making it difficult to explain his final point.

Kuga–Satake Construction on Families of K3 Surfaces of Picard Rank 14

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The isometry between the type IV6 and the type II4 hermitian symmetric domains suggests a possible relation between suitable moduli spaces of K3 surfaces of Picard rank 14 and of polarized abelian 8‐folds with totally definite quaternion multiplication. We show how this isometry induces a geometrically meaningful map between such moduli spaces

The Two Extremal Rays of Some Hyper–Kähler Fourfolds

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We consider projective Hyper–Kähler manifolds of dimension 4 that are deformation equivalent to Hilbert squares of K3 surfaces. In case such a manifold admits a divisorial contraction, the exceptional divisor is a conic bundle over a K3 surface. A classification of lattice embeddings implies that there are five types of such conic bundles.

Transcendental Groups

open access: yes, 2021
In this note we introduce the notion of a transcendental group, that is, a subgroup $G$ of the topological group $\mathbb{C}$ of all complex numbers such that every element of $G$ except $ 0$ is a transcendental number. All such topological groups are separable metrizable zero-dimensional torsion-free abelian groups.

The value of regeneration

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Millions of hectares of rangelands have been subject to degeneration through overgrazing, agricultural expansion, urbanisation and afforestation. Countering this, regeneration is a natural process whereby rangeland ecosystems revive themselves.
