Quantification of DNA Products Using Ion-Pair Reverse Phase Liquid Chromatography [PDF]
The transcription of DNA via RNA polymerases is a fundamental process in cellular systems. In eukaryotic cells, we observe transcription in the nucleus (via genomic DNA) as well as in the mitochondria (via mitochondrial DNA).

Dynamics of gene expression and the regulatory inference problem
From the response to external stimuli to cell division and death, the dynamics of living cells is based on the expression of specific genes at specific times.

Plant Transcription Factors @ uni-potsdam.de [PDF]
We present the Plant Transcription Factor Database (PlnTFDB), and the putative complete set of TFs in the algae _Chlamydomonas reinhardtii_, _Ostreococcus tauri_ and the vascular plants _Oryza sativa_ and _Arabidopsis ...

Challenges of Decoding Transcription Factor Dynamics in Terms of Gene Regulation
Technological advances are continually improving our ability to obtain more accurate views about the inner workings of biological systems. One such rapidly evolving area is single cell biology, and in particular gene expression and its regulation by ...

A Possible Mechanism of DNA to DNA Transcription in Eukaryotic Cells : Endonuclease Dependent Transcript Cutout [PDF]
We previously proposed the existence of DNA to DNA transcription in eukaryotic cells, but the mechanism by which single-stranded DNA (ssDNA) transcript is produced and released from the genome remains unknown. We once speculated that the mechanism of DNA to DNA transcription might be similar to that of DNA to RNA transcription, but now we propose that ...

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Alignment of Speech to Highly Imperfect Text Transcriptions [PDF]
We introduce a novel and inexpensive approach for the temporal alignment of speech to highly imperfect transcripts from automatic speech recognition (ASR). Transcripts are generated for extended lecture and presentation videos, which in some cases feature more than 30 speakers with different accents, resulting in highly varying transcription qualities.

Decoding the dual role of autophagy in cancer through transcriptional and epigenetic regulation
Transcriptional and epigenetic regulation controls autophagy, which exerts context‐dependent effects on cancer: Autophagy suppresses tumorigenesis by maintaining cellular homeostasis or promotes tumor progression by supporting survival under stress. In this “In a Nutshell” article, we explore the intricate mechanisms of the dual function of autophagy ...

Effect of natural genetic variation on enhancer selection and function. [PDF]
The mechanisms by which genetic variation affects transcription regulation and phenotypes at the nucleotide level are incompletely understood. Here we use natural genetic variation as an in vivo mutagenesis screen to assess the genome-wide effects of ...
