Regioselective Aldol Reactions Directed by Charge and Orbital Effects in Cyclic Germyl Dienolates: Synthesis of Three Distinct Regio‐ and Stereoisomers

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Charge and orbital control represent fundamental principles in organic chemistry. In this study, these principles are applied to the aldol reactions of a cyclic Ge‐dienolate. By systematically tuning the charge and orbital distributions of the Ge‐dienolates and their aldehyde reaction partners, regio‐ and stereoselective access to three distinct aldol ...

Multi‐state Photoswitching in Thienoquinoid‐Based Fluorescent Trithiophenes

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
A methine‐bridged trithiophene with a thienoquinoid core undergoes photoisomerization of both C═C bonds, affording three geometrical isomers in a ratio controlled by the irradiation wavelength. Despite full π‐conjugation, the system retains fluorescence, enabling wavelength‐addressable multi‐state switching with luminescent readout.

Transdisciplinary Development of Quality Criteria for Transdisciplinary Research

open access: yes
AbstractFunding structures and review processes are still considered as among the major barriers to transdisciplinary research. The search for convincing and satisfying avenues and guidelines for funding agencies and review panels is ongoing. The question of how to evaluate transdisciplinary research has been debated for some time, and it resulted in a
