Zooplankton in the temperate ocean display strong ties to pico‐plankton and seasonally variable trophic roles

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, Volume 71, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Trophic connections between the food web base and zooplankton affect the structure of marine food webs and fluxes to higher predators. The food that zooplankton consume shifts in response to prey resources, but specific zooplankton trophic sources remain unresolved over the dynamic seasonal cycle for many species.

Successive Mechanical Recycling of Poly(lactic Acid) by Injection Molding: Evolution of Molecular, Thermal, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 3, March 2026.
This study investigated how successive injection molding recycling affects the properties of poly(lactic acid) (PLA). Gel permeation chromatography showed a two‐thirds molar mass reduction after ten reprocessing cycles. Differential scanning calorimetry revealed lower glass transition and cold crystallization temperatures.

Advancements in 3D Printing of Self‐Healing Polymer Systems

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 3, March 2026.
This review provides an overview of the most common 3D printing technologies and summarizes the numerous methods to produce self‐healing materials. The challenges and strategies used to adapt these methods to 3D printing are then highlighted to provide a framework for future research in 3D printing self‐healing polymer systems.

Direct Fluoroformylation of the C3‐Position of Indoles with 2,4‐Dinitro(trifluoromethoxy)benzene as Fluorocarbonyl Source

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
Indoles bearing acyl fluoride moieties are generally obtained by dehydroxyfluorination of carboxylic acids or by fluoroformylation mediated by palladium catalysts with the disadvantage of requiring toxic reagents or very high pressures. We describe herein the direct, metal‐free, and rapid C3‐fluoroformylation of electro‐enriched indoles using ...
