Imeglimin attenuates liver fibrosis by inhibiting vesicular ATP release from hepatic stellate cells
Imeglimin, at clinically relevant concentrations, inhibits vesicular ATP accumulation and release from hepatic stellate cells, thereby attenuating purinergic signaling and reducing fibrogenic activation. This mechanism reveals a newly identified antifibrotic action of imeglimin beyond glycemic control.

The influence of a wall function on turbine blade heat transfer prediction [PDF]
The second phase of a continuing investigation to improve the prediction of turbine blade heat transfer coefficients was completed. The present study specifically investigated how a numeric wall function in the turbulence model of a two-dimensional ...

Noninvertible Transfer Functions and their Forecasts
A transfer function relating a time series $y_t$ to present and past values of a series $x_t$ need not possess an inverse. When $(x_t, y_t)$ is a covariance stationary process, it is shown that noninvertibility in this transfer function has the effect of reducing the error variance of the minimum mean-square-error predictor of $y_t$ one or more steps ...

Cancer cell death induced by the NAD antimetabolite Vacor discloses the antitumor potential of SARM1
Vacor, a compound converted into the toxic metabolite Vacor adenine dinucleotide (VAD) by the nicotinamide salvage pathway enzymes NAMPT and NMNAT2, exhibits antitumor activity by inducing rapid and complete NAD depletion. We report that Vacor toxicity is limited to cell lines expressing high levels of SARM1, a NAD glycohydrolase.

Transfer Function-Based Road Classification for Vehicles with Nonlinear Semi-Active Suspension
Ride comfort and handling are two important criteria regarding vehicle vibration control. For solving the inconsistency between ride comfort and handling, a semi-active suspension system equipped with a road classification system can be a suitable ...

Manual control analysis of drug effects on driving performance [PDF]
The effects of secobarbital, diazepam, alcohol, and marihuana on car-driver transfer functions obtained using a driving simulator were studied. The first three substances, all CNS depressants, reduced gain, crossover frequency, and coherence which ...

Dispersion of the dielectric function of a charge-transfer insulator
We study the problem of dielectric response in the strong coupling regime of a charge transfer insulator. The frequency and wave number dependence of the dielectric function $\epsilon ({\bf q},\omega)$ and its inverse $\epsilon ^{-1}({\bf q},\omega)$ is ...

Protein kinase FAM20C—when subcellular localization matters
FAM20C is a Golgi‐resident kinase that phosphorylates proteins along the entire secretory pathway. The presence of potential FAM20C substrates in the cytoplasm or nucleus raises the question of how the kinase and its substrates encounter each other. Protein kinases achieve signaling specificity through consensus sequence recognition and subcellular ...
