Modeling Dislocation Cutting of γ′ Precipitates in Ni‐Base Superalloys: Linking Atomistic and Dislocation Dynamics Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Dislocation cutting of γ′ precipitates in Ni‐based superalloys is investigated by linking atomistic simulations with discrete dislocation dynamics. The critical cutting stress is shown to be governed by the antiphase boundary energy, while line tension effects promote edge‐preferred cutting.

Effect of concrete compressive strength on transfer length

Structures, 2016
[EN] This paper examines the effect of concrete compressive strength on the transfer length of prestressing strands. The paper includes the results from several research projects conducted at the University of Arkansas (UA) and from testing reported in the literature. At the UA, 57 prestressed, precast beams have been cast since 2005.

Current transfer length revisited

Superconductor Science and Technology, 2006
We constructed a model to estimate analytically the current transfer from a matrix to a superconducting region through a highly resistive barrier layer. Also, a numerical model was formulated in order to study the current transfer when the superconducting region has nonlinear resistivity.

Length 2 variables of A[x,y] and transfer

Annales Polonici Mathematici, 2001
Let \(A\) be a commutative ring. When \(A\) is a field, the automorphism group of \(A[x_1, \dots , x_n]\) is well known [\textit{M. Nagata}, ``On automorphism group of k(x,y)'', Dep. Math., Kyoto Univ., Lect. Math. 5 (Tokyo 1972; Zbl 0306.14001)]. The authors consider the general case for \(n=2\), when the study of automorphisms reduces to that of ...

Transfer and Development Lengths of FRP Prestressing Tendons

PCI Journal, 2000
An experimental investigation was conducted to determine the transfer length, development length and flexural behavior of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) tendons in prestressed concrete beams. Three types of tendons were included in the study: carbon leadline, aramid technora, and a carbon fiber reference material.

Heat transfer in a channel with an unheated length

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1963
Abstract A study is made of heat transfer in a rectangular duct by embedded alpha-calorimeters. The results indicate that under the prevailing conditions preliminary hydrodynamic stabilization of the flow does not influence the heat exchange.

Coherence length and/or transfer width?

Surface Science, 1979
Abstract A dissatisfactory correlation results between beam widths obtained in electron and molecule diffraction experiments and coherence length values calculated by the consequent use of some of the pertinent formulae. Arguments are presented for the necessity to emphasize that the diffraction patterns are ultimately produced by the interference of

Bovine Embryo Transfer Pregnancies. II. Lengths of Gestation

Journal of Animal Science, 1985
Lengths of gestation were determined from 1,484 pregnancies resulting from embryo transfer procedures. Least-square means of lengths of gestation by breed of embryos (P less than .005) were: Holstein, 278.7; Angus, 281.0; Hereford, 285.7; Simmental, 287.6 and Limousin, 289.7 d. Recipient breed had a small effect on length of gestation (P less than .005)

A New Smoothing Technique for Transfer-Length Determination

ACI Structural Journal, 2018
[EN] Transfer length is a significant parameter in the design of pretensioned concrete members. This study reports the measured transfer length of 15.2 mm (0.6 in.) prestressing strands. Twenty-four pretensioned concrete beams were cast using conventional concrete.
