Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Divisibility of the Second–Order Minors of the Nominators by Minimal Denominators of Transfer Matrices of Cyclic Fractional Linear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, 2021
The divisibility of the second-order minors of the numerators of transfer matrices by their minimal denominators for cyclic fractional linear systems is analyzed. It is shown that all nonzero second-order minors of the numerators of the transfer matrices

Design and Development of an Optimal Control Model in System Dynamics through State-Space Representation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
Control engineering and state-space representation are valuable tools in the analysis and design of dynamic systems. In this research, a methodology is proposed that uses these approaches to transform a system-dynamics simulation model into a ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Dynamic Similitude Design Method of the Distorted Model on Variable Thickness Cantilever Plates

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2016
In the present study, a new method of predicting the dynamic behavior of a variable thickness (VT) cantilever plate by using a thin plate scaled model is proposed. The thin plate model, defined as the model thin (MT) plate, is designed by using the newly

Matrix formulation in Acoustics: the transfer matrix method

open access: yes, 2019
Matrices are introduced in mathematical subjects related to vector spaces and linear Algebra, being disconnected with their applications in other fields of Science and Engineering studies. The transmission of this knowledge is done, in many occasions, in a purely theoretical manner and posing problems to students that are sometimes abstract, lacking ...

Cell geometry and membrane protein crowding constrain Escherichia coli growth rate, overflow metabolism, respiration, and maintenance energy

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Transfer Learning for Matrix Completion

open access: yesCoRR
In this paper, we explore the knowledge transfer under the setting of matrix completion, which aims to enhance the estimation of a low-rank target matrix with auxiliary data available. We propose a transfer learning procedure given prior information on which source datasets are favorable. We study its convergence rates and prove its minimax optimality.
