In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

Electrosprayed chitosan nanoparticles: facile and efficient approach for bacterial transformation
A rapid and efficient procedure for DNA transformation is a key prerequisite for successful cloning and genomic studies. While there are efforts to develop a facile method, so far obtained efficiencies for alternative methods have been unsatisfactory (i ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

The induction of natural competence adapts staphylococcal metabolism to infection
Orthologs of natural competence genes are conserved in non-competent bacterial species, suggesting they have a role other than in transformation. Here, the authors show that competence induction in Staphylococcus aureus occurs in response to reactive ...

Characterization of Arabidopsis thaliana CPR5 via the elucidation of interacting protein partners : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]
he Arabidopsis thaliana Constitutive expresser of pathogenesis related genes5 (CPR5) has previously been suggested to play a role in the regulation of disease resistance, plant and cell proliferation, development and death.

Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Transformation Asymmetry and the Evolution of the Bacterial Accessory Genome
&NA; Bacterial transformation can insert or delete genomic islands (GIs), depending on the donor and recipient genotypes, if an homologous recombination spans the GI's integration site and includes sufficiently long flanking homologous arms.
