Using Malone’s Theoretical Model on Gamification for Designing Educational Rubrics

open access: yesInformatics, 2019
How could a structured proposal for an evaluation rubric benefit from assessing and including the organizational variables used when one of the first definitions of gamification related to game theory was established by Thomas W. Malone in 1980?

Hydrogen generation from Al‐water reaction catalyzed by Fe/AlOOH composite

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2020
Hydrogen generation via Al‐water reaction promoted by special catalysts has great potential, which can provide hydrogen source for portable fuel cells. In this work, we use wet chemical reduction method to prepare a high‐activity Fe/AlOOH composite with ...

Extendable birational transformations belonging to Galois points [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We study birational transformations belonging to Galois points. Let $P$ be a Galois point for a plane curve $C$ and $G_P$ be a Galois group at $P$. Then an element of $G_P$ induces a birational transformation of $C$. In general, it is difficult to determine when this birational transformations can be extended to a Cremona (or projective) transformation.

Functional variation among LPMOs revealed by the inhibitory effects of cyanide and buffer ions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study addresses the inhibition of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) by cyanide and explains how and why the magnitude of observed inhibitory effects depends on the way LPMO reactions are setup and on the type of LPMO. Enzymes known as lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are mono‐copper polysaccharide‐degrading peroxygenases that ...

Unlocking Learning: Investigating the Replayability of Educational Games

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Games Technology
Recently, gamification has emerged as an effective approach to captivate users, particularly in the context of online education. Although there has been a rise in the recent surge of articles on gamification, there is still a lack of research on the ...

Ablation of LRP6 in alpha‐smooth muscle actin‐expressing cells abrogates lung inflammation and fibrosis upon bleomycin‐induced lung injury

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Isoforms of the Papillomavirus Major Capsid Protein Differ in Their Ability to Block Viral Spread and Tumor Formation

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Notably, the majority of papillomaviruses associated with a high cancer risk have the potential to translate different isoforms of the L1 major capsid protein. In an infection model, the cutaneous Mastomys natalensis papillomavirus (MnPV) circumvents the

Generalized Hyperbolic Spaces Associated with Arbitrary Quadratic Forms [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The Vahlen group gives a way for presenting the hyperbolic space of every dimension of a group acting via M\"{o}bius transformations. As Vahlen groups and paravector Vahlen groups are now defined over any field of characteristic different from 2, we establish analogous spaces on which they operate transitively as M\"{o}bius transformations, by defining
