Supramolecular Polymer Transformation: A Kinetic Study
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2014Investigation of supramolecular kinetics is essential for elucidating self-assembly mechanisms. Recently, we reported on a noncovalent system involving a bolaamphiphilic perylene diimide dimer that is kinetically trapped in water but can rearrange into a different, more ordered assembly in water/THF mixtures ( Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.

Kinetics of the bainite transformation
Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2004Summary: A theory is developed for the evolution of bainite as a function of time, temperature, chemical composition and austenite grain size. The model takes into account the details of the mechanism of transformation, including the fact that nucleation begins at the austenite grain surfaces, and that the growth of a sheaf occurs by the repeated ...

Kinetics of Quartz Transformation
Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, 1974The transformations of two varieties of high purity quartz were studied at 1400 and 1500°, the determination of quartz being done by DTA. The transformations were found to be greatly influenced by particle size. The decomposition of fine fractions of quartz followed a spherical model in which the decomposition starting from the surface nucleation ...

Transformation kinetics for inhomogeneous nucleation
Acta Materialia, 2009Abstract A rigorous mathematical approach based on an inhomogeneous (marked) Poisson point process is presented to extend previously proposed treatment of transformation kinetics to situations in which nuclei are not homogeneously located in space.

Kinetics of Physical Transformations
1984A concrete physical system may change in time. Any such change will be called a process, provided the change exists in every inertial coordinate system. In this broad sense, not only chemical reactions, positron—electron ‘annihilation’, nuclear reactions, etc., but also the emission and absorption of photons, and even a change in a purely mechanical ...

Kinetics of anisothermal phase transformations
Journal of Applied Physics, 1983An analytical study of anisothermal phase-transformation kinetics is described. In particular, the familiar Johnson–Mehl–Avrami equation is generalized to the situation for which temperature increases linearly with time. An exact analysis of the problem is carried out, with the general solution being obtained in terms of one of Horn’s confluent ...

Quantum-Mechanical Kinetic Energy Transformation
Physical Review, 1958It is shown by a transformation of the usual expression for the kinetic energy matrix elements a simpler formula results which yields, for numerical wave finctions, higher numerical accuracy for the kinetic energy than has previously been obtained. The derivation of the transformation and the numerical results of several applications are presented ...

Metal-hydride transformation kinetics in Mg nanoparticles
Applied Physics Letters, 2009The hydrogen sorption kinetics of magnesium nanoparticles prepared by inert gas condensation and coated by a magnesium oxide layer were investigated by a volumetric apparatus. The metal-hydride transformation was studied by transmission electron microscopy of the nanoparticles both in the as-prepared state and after hydrogen cycling.

Abstract Phosphorous in concentrations exceeding those generally observed through agricultural activities has been encountered at land application wastewater treatment sites. To predict the environmental impact of these systems, a model was developed to describe the reaction of orthophosphate with mineral soils ...

Transformation kinetics during continuous cooling
Acta Metallurgica, 1956Abstract It is shown that transformations which nucleate heterogeneously will quite often obey a rule of additivity and transform nonisothermally according to simple rate laws which can be calculated from isothermal transformation data.
