Winding Deformation Detection of Transformer Based on Sweep Frequency Impedance

2019
To improve the timeliness and accuracy of transformer winding deformation detection, the deformation of the transformer winding is studied by sweeping frequency impedance method. Based on the principle of scanning impedance method, an experimental test circuit is constructed to perform on-site detection on a 10 kV transformer.

Study of transformer winding deformation by frequency response analysis

2013 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2013
This paper proposes a methodology to interpret frequency response measurements of a deformed transformer winding due to conductors tilt. To achieve that, geometrical parameters of a three phase prototype transformer is used to simulate the frequency response of one of the windings using the multi-conductor transmission line model.

Method for detecting system on power transformer winding deformation

2009 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2009
This paper presents a detecting system on power transformer winding deformation which can enhance the diagnostic accuracy to a large degree. The Impulse Frequency Response Analysis (IFRA) method is developed for generating frequency response analysis trace (FRA trace) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm is used for predicting the transformer ...

Practical challenges in online transformer winding deformation diagnostics

2011 2nd International Conference on Electric Power and Energy Conversion Systems (EPECS), 2011
Monitoring and diagnosis of transformers have been investigated and discussed for many years. While transformer routine tests indicate electrical and also insulation weakness or defects, Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) as a modern test can indicate mechanical defects in transformer active part.

Transformer Winding Deformation Diagnosis by Induced Voltage Test

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
During induction voltage test, the changes of data such as output voltage and output current reflects the changes of the equivalent parameters of the transformer. Through the analysis of testing data, diagnosis of winding deformation of the transformer can be made. Transformer condition evaluation can be provided on the basis of these data.

The Study of Two Models for Power Transformer Winding Deformation

2020 IEEE International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Application (ICHVE), 2020
Transformer, one of the most important components in a power system, functions as the vital to the safety of power supply system. However, great economic losses and industrial accidents can result from transformer winding deformation. Therefore, it is quite essential to use a precise transformer model when taking simulation to diagnose the transformer ...

Modeling of frequency response of transformer winding with axial deformations

Archives of Electrical Engineering, 2014
Abstract One of important methods used for diagnostics of a transformer’s active part is Frequency Response Analysis (FRA). It allows to determine the mechanical condition of windings, their displacements, deformations and electric faults, as well as some problems with internal leads and connections, core and bushings.

Transformer winding deformation diagnostics techniques with statistical approach

2015 International Conference on Communications and Signal Processing (ICCSP), 2015
Monitoring the health of power transformer is important for the reliability of electrical power supply. Conventional tests carried out on power transformers can only detect damage of permanent nature. Frequency Response Analysis (FRA) is found to be a useful tool for reliable detection of incipient mechanical fault in a transformer.

Frequency response analysis to investigate deformation of transformer winding

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2015
This paper discusses the application of Nyquist plot and two statistical indicators to analyze the frequency response of power transformers. Five cases are presented based on both simulations and measurements. These include two types of winding deformation, namely tilting and bending of conductors.
