Fine-Tuning a Large Language Model for the Classification of Diseases Caused by Environmental Pollution

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Environmental pollution poses an increasing threat to public health, particularly in urban areas with high levels of pollutant exposure. To address this challenge, this study proposes a model based on fine-tuning the LLaMA 3 large language model for the ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

TACS-Net: Temporal-Aware Customer Segmentation Network

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of the Computer Society
Customer segmentation is essential for personalized marketing, customer retention, and strategic decision-making. Traditional segmentation methods, such as k-Means and Gaussian Mixture Models, rely on static features and fail to capture the evolving ...

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Perspectives in educating molecular pathologists on liquid biopsy: Toward integrative, equitable, and decentralized precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Liquid biopsy enables minimally invasive, real‐time molecular profiling through analysis of circulating biomarkers in biological fluids. This Perspective highlights the importance of training pathologists through integrative educational programs, such as the European Masters in Molecular Pathology, to ensure effective and equitable implementation of ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Transformations debugging transformations

open access: yes, 2017
Abstract: Practical model transformation (MT) frameworks are usually composed of multiple execution contexts, building an overall workflow by abstracting different aspects of execution. This heterogeneity brings additional challenges to debugging, which must address a combination of quite different graphical and textual formalisms.

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.
