The return of metabolism: biochemistry and physiology of glycolysis

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glycolysis is a fundamental metabolic pathway central to the bioenergetics and physiology of virtually all living organisms. In this comprehensive review, we explore the intricate biochemical principles and evolutionary origins of glycolytic pathways, from the classical Embden–Meyerhof–Parnas (EMP) pathway in humans to various prokaryotic and ...

Expanding Access to Genome Sequencing: Higher Diagnostic Yield in Self‐Referred Participants From the CincyKidsSeq Study and Implications for Hybrid Models of Genetic Service Delivery

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
Genome sequencing helped find answers for 1 in 5 children with rare conditions in an outpatient study looking at hybrid genetic care delivery. Families who chose testing themselves had the highest diagnostic yield, showing that self‐referral may be a helpful way to improve access to genetic care.

Providing holistic care for patients with metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease/metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis: Key aspects of clinical assessment and how to develop individualised care plans for surveillance and interventions

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), characterised by hepatic steatosis and metabolic dysfunction (i.e., obesity, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidaemia, and hypertension), is affecting over 30% of the adult population worldwide.
