Frequent Occurrence of Transgene Deletion in Transgenic Plants

open access: yesMolecules and Cells, 1998
The status of the transgene in tobacco plants transformed by Agrobacterium was analyzed with PCR. Twelve percent of the transgenic plants with the nptII gene showed different levels of transgene deletion, which was also found in transgenic watermelon (10-30%) and carrot (40-60%).

Establishment of methods for identifying rapidly and precisely transgenic rice and soybean containing herbicide-resistant gene bar and EPSPS

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2012
Genetic engineering is an important tool in plant functional genomics research and crop improvement applications. During the production of transgenic plants, the regenerated plantlets (T0) through transformation process will often mix with false-positive

An accurate, reliable, and universal qPCR method to identify homozygous single insert T-DNA with the example of transgenic rice

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2023
Early determination of transgenic plants that are homozygous for a single locus T-DNA insert is highly desirable in most fundamental and applied transgenic research. This study aimed to build on an accurate, rapid, and reliable quantitative real-time PCR

Recent advances in the dissection of drought-stress regulatory networks and strategies for development of drought-tolerant transgenic rice plants

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
Advances have been made in the development of drought-tolerant transgenic plants, including cereals. Rice, one of the most important cereals, is considered to be a critical target for improving drought tolerance, as present-day rice cultivation requires ...

Overexpression of the Wheat Expansin Gene TaEXPA2 Improved Seed Production and Drought Tolerance in Transgenic Tobacco Plants

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Expansins are cell wall proteins that are grouped into two main families, α-expansins and β-expansins, and they are implicated in the control of cell extension via the disruption of hydrogen bonds between cellulose and matrix glucans.

Heterologous expression of the AtDREB1A gene in tomato confers tolerance to chilling stress

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2019
Tomato is highly sensitive to chilling stress (0 - 12 °C) which severely affects plant growth and development. Transgenic tomato plants expressing the AtDREB1A gene under the control of the rd29A promoter were evaluated for its tolerance to chilling ...

Regulatory approval and a first-in-human phase I clinical trial of a monoclonal antibody produced in transgenic tobacco plants.

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, 2015
Although plant biotechnology has been widely investigated for the production of clinical-grade monoclonal antibodies, no antibody products derived from transgenic plants have yet been approved by pharmaceutical regulators for clinical testing.

Transgenic Expression of Confers Enhanced Tolerance to Abiotic Stresses in Tall Fescue [PDF]

open access: yesAsian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences, 2012
Tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) is an important cool season forage plant that is not well suited to extreme heat, salts, or heavy metals. To develop transgenic tall fescue plants with enhanced tolerance to abiotic stress, we introduced an ...

Transgenic Arabidopsis Plants Expressing Tomato Glutathione S-Transferase Showed Enhanced Resistance to Salt and Drought Stress

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Although glutathione S-transferases (GST, EC 2.5.1.18) are involved in response to abiotic stress, limited information is available regarding gene function in tomato.

Characteristics of Pollen from Transgenic Lines of Apple Carrying the Exogenous CpTI Gene

open access: yesHorticultural Plant Journal, 2015
It is fundamental for gene transformation and ecosystem hazard evaluation to study the pollen characteristics of transgenic plants. In this research, the characteristics of pollen from 7- or 8-year-old transgenic apple plants carrying an exogenous CpTI ...
