Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A discussion is given of the frequency distribution of several types of non-periodic phenomena. The method of spectral analysis employing the Fourier integral is applied to a sine wave of short duration and it is shown that when the envelope is square-topped, noise components are present extending far to each side of the central frequency band, whereas

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

To study the fast modelling of dynamic characteristics caused by power electronic switching, the dynamic phasor (DP) theory based on the time-varying Fourier decomposition and frequency shifting is firstly applied to the modelling of various multipulse ...

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

The computation accuracies of the boundary-element method (BEM) and finite-element method (FEM) in transient eddy-current problems are compared by using a slot-embedded conductor model and a diffusion model that can be solved theoretically. For computing

Transient cooling of two circular cylinders arranged in Tandem and bounded by an adiabatic wall
Parametric study is carried out on the transient cooling process of two circular cylinders in tandem arrangement for a specified period of time. Transient analysis of conjugate (conduction and convection) heat dissipation from two

Analysis of heterogeneous two server queueing system with multiple working vacations and server breakdowns [PDF]
A generalized fuzzy number (GFN), whose height is not necessarily 1, is used in situations when expert opinions are not completely reliable. This subnormality complicates operations based on the extension principle.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
