DETOx: Towards Optimal Software-based Soft-Error Detector Configurations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Application developers often place executable assertions -- equipped with program-specific predicates -- in their system, targeting programming errors. However, these detectors can detect data errors resulting from transient hardware faults in main memory as well.

Exploration of heterogeneity and recurrence signatures in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study leveraged public datasets and integrative bioinformatic analysis to dissect malignant cell heterogeneity between relapsed and primary HCC, focusing on intercellular communication, differentiation status, metabolic activity, and transcriptomic profiles.

Multidimensional OMICs reveal ARID1A orchestrated control of DNA damage, splicing, and cell cycle in normal‐like and malignant urothelial cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the frequently mutated chromatin remodeler ARID1A, a subunit of the SWI/SNF cBAF complex, results in less open chromatin, alternative splicing, and the failure to stop cells from progressing through the cell cycle after DNA damage in bladder (cancer) cells. Created in BioRender. Epigenetic regulators, such as the SWI/SNF complex, with important

Escape from TGF‐β‐induced senescence promotes aggressive hallmarks in epithelial hepatocellular carcinoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Chronic TGF‐β exposure drives epithelial HCC cells from a senescent state to a TGF‐β resistant mesenchymal phenotype. This transition is characterized by the loss of Smad3‐mediated signaling, escape from senescence, enhanced invasiveness and metastatic potential, and upregulation of key resistance modulators such as MARK1 and GRM8, ultimately promoting

A computer program to simulate the response of SiPMs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A Monte Carlo program which simulates the response of SiPMs is presented. Input to the program are the mean number and the time distribution of Geiger discharges from light, as well as the dark-count rate. For every primary Geiger discharge from light and dark counts in an event, correlated Geiger discharges due to prompt and delayed cross-talk and ...

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Towards An Integrated Optical Transient Utility [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The ongoing optical time-domain astronomy surveys are routinely reporting fifty transient candidates per night. Here, I investigate the demographics of astronomical transients and supernova classifications reported to the Transient Name Server in the year 2019. I find that only a tenth of the transients were spectrally classified.

Time, the final frontier

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This article advocates integrating temporal dynamics into cancer research. Rather than relying on static snapshots, researchers should increasingly consider adopting dynamic methods—such as live imaging, temporal omics, and liquid biopsies—to track how tumors evolve over time.

Software safety : a definition and some preliminary thoughts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
Software safety is the subject of a research project in its initial stages at the University of California Irvine. This research deals with critical real-time software where the cost of an error is high, e.g. human life. In this paper software techniques

Maximal Positive Invariant Set Determination for Transient Stability Assessment in Power Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
This paper assesses the transient stability of a synchronous machine connected to an infinite bus through the notion of invariant sets. The problem of computing a conservative approximation of the maximal positive invariant set is formulated as a semi-definitive program based on occupation measures and Lasserre's relaxation.
