We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

How can we augment the few that remain? Using stable population dynamics to aid reintroduction planning of an iteroparous species [PDF]
Restoration of depleted populations is an important method in biological conservation. Reintroduction strategies frequently aim to restore stable, increasing, self-sustaining populations.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Ultrafast transient dynamics in composite multiferroics
We investigate theoretically the dynamic multiferroic (MF) response of coupled ferroelectric (FE)/ferromagnetic (FM) composites upon excitation by a photo-induced acoustic strain pulse. Two magnetoelectric (ME) mechanisms are considered: interface strain-

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

State space analysis of diphtheria pathogenesis using semi-tensor products and permutation methods [PDF]
In this study, we analyze the state space of a Boolean network modeling diphtheria pathogenesis, focusing on key genes such as Tox, Rep, INF1/INF2, TLR, AP1, IL6, and TNF.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Simulation study on impact characteristics of RF microsystem based on bulk silicon MEMS process
The high overload impact test is costly and time consuming, and the failure detection means are few, so it is difficult to locate the weak points of the structure. In this paper the impact response spectrum and transient dynamics method are used to study
