Impact of Age and Factor Xa Inhibitor Concentrations on Bleeding Risk in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
This study aimed to analyze differences in the exposure‐response relationship for factor Xa inhibitors (FXaI) between patients aged ≥ 80 and < 80 years. Patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) taking rivaroxaban, apixaban, or edoxaban were enrolled, and a single steady‐state trough concentration was measured.

Tongxinluo enhances the effect of atorvastatin on the treatment of atherosclerosis with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by maintaining the pulmonary microvascular barrier

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 390-407, January 2023., 2023
COPD aggravates AS, possibly through the destruction of pulmonary microvascular barrier function; thus, lung inflammation triggers systemic inflammation. In treating COPD with AS, TXL enhances the antiatherosclerotic effect of Ato, protecting the pulmonary microvascular barrier.

CPAISD: Core-penumbra acute ischemic stroke dataset [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We introduce the CPAISD: Core-Penumbra Acute Ischemic Stroke Dataset, aimed at enhancing the early detection and segmentation of ischemic stroke using Non-Contrast Computed Tomography (NCCT) scans. Addressing the challenges in diagnosing acute ischemic stroke during its early stages due to often non-revealing native CT findings, the dataset provides a ...

Reactive microglia are the major source of tumor necrosis factor alpha and contribute to astrocyte dysfunction and acute seizures in experimental temporal lobe epilepsy

open access: yesGlia, Volume 71, Issue 2, Page 168-186, February 2023., 2023
Main Points Microglia become rapidly reactive in temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). Microglia are major producers of TNFα during status epilepticus, which impairs astrocyte coupling and promotes gliosis. Depletion of microglia attenuates acute seizure activity in TLE.

Post-Cough Dissection of Carotid Artery: Case with Fibromuscular Dysplasia

open access: yesTürk Nöroloji Dergisi, 2009
Dissection of the internal carotid artery due to fibromuscular dysplasia is a rare cause of transient ischemic attack in young patients. Usually, the diagnosis of fibromuscular dysplasia is usually based on conventional and/or magnetic resonance ...

Squamate ventricular cardiomyocytes: Ploidy, proliferation, and heart muscle cell size in the leopard gecko (Eublepharis macularius)

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background While heart function is broadly conserved across vertebrates, the cellular phenotype of muscle cells (cardiomyocytes) varies across taxa and throughout ontogeny. Emerging evidence suggests that some attributes may correlate with the capacity for spontaneous cardiomyocyte replacement following injury.
