ATC Assessment with transient stability constraints
2008 IEEE 25th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel, 2008The liberalization of the electricity market has generated significant changes in the planning, operation and management of electric power systems. The open accesses for Independent Power Producers (IPP) results in possible dynamic problems due to the small security margin that characterize competitive markets.

A Unified Scheme for Power System Transient Stability Simulation and Transient Stability Assessment
2019 IEEE 8th International Conference on Advanced Power System Automation and Protection (APAP), 2019Transient stability assessment (TSA) is critical for power system stability analysis and control. Among all efforts to achieve TSA, the transient stability simulation(TSS) plays a fundamental role. In this paper, a unified scheme is proposed for TSS and TSA of numerous power system transient scenarios. The scheme mainly consists of two parts, which are

Stability criteria for trajectory simulation in transient stability assessment
Proceedings of TENCON '93. IEEE Region 10 International Conference on Computers, Communications and Automation, 2002In this paper, novel and efficient stopping criteria for power system post-fault trajectory simulation are proposed for expediting the speed of transient stability assessment (TSA). Based on the criteria, an algorithm is developed to determine the critical clearing time (CCT) for a multimachine power system.

Sequential transient stability assessment (power system)
IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, 1989A sequential approach to the power-system transient stability assessment is presented and discussed. A reliable modified transient stability criterion is proposed. Simplified transient energy function expressions are derived, which enable a significant reduction of the computation time.

Transient Stability Assessment using Gated Recurrent Unit
2020 5th Asia Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering (ACPEE), 2020Machine learning based transient stability analysis of power system mostly uses feedforward neural network, which does not consider the relationship between data and data in time domain. This paper presents a power system transient stability assessment based on gated recurrent unit.

2012 IEEE International Energy Conference and Exhibition (ENERGYCON), 2012
In the paper a probabilistic methodology based upon an approximation of the stability region boundary is presented. The proposed approach, taking into account the randomness of the main variables and parameters, such as fault clearing time, the reclosing time and fault location, is able to determine the actual transient stability margins.

Equivalent machine transient energy function method for transient stability assessment
7th IET International Conference on Advances in Power System Control, Operation and Management (APSCOM 2006), 2006Two problems shall be solved when hybrid method is applied for on-line transient stability assessment for large-scale power grid: one is how to determine whether system is stable or not from large amounts of trajectory information output by time domain simulation; the other is how to figure out transient energy margin along fault trajectory ...

Numerical Simulation for Stochastic Transient Stability Assessment
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2012There has been continuous development of techniques for assessing the transient stability of power systems in the uncertain environment. In this paper, a novel framework for stochastic transient stability assessment is proposed. The basic theory of stochastic calculus is first introduced to form the mathematical basis of the proposed approach.

Transient stability assessment using artificial neural networks
Electric Power Systems Research, 1997Abstract This paper presents a study of the feasibility of using artificial neural networks (ANNs) in transient stability assessment for power systems. In the study ANNs have been developed to synthesize the complex mapping that carries the power system operating variables and fault locations into the Critical Clearing Times. The training of the ANNs
