Transient-stability studies of d.w.r. synchronous generator
Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1971Some transient-stability studies of a divided-winding-rotor (d.w.r.) synchronous generator equipped with regulators for controlling the voltage, torque angle and speed are described. It has been observed that the machine is quite capable of withstanding severe forms of load shedding, and that the angle regulator is quite effective in checking the ...

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1985
This paper presents the results of a laboratory implementation of discontinuous supplementary excitation (DSE). control to stabilize a synchronous machine through the use of local information such as okachine slip and acceleration. It is an extension to a previous theoretical investigation and evaluates the effects of the various control signals and ...

Synchronization and Transient Stability in Power Grids Based on Łojasiewicz Inequalities
SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2014In this paper we are concerned with a second-order Kuramoto-type model and its synchronization problem. This study was motivated by its significant relation to the power grid systems. The power grids in industry have become increasingly complex and, more and more, power disturbances could be drawn into the system due to the highly stochastic renewable ...

Transient stability region of synchronous generator with saturable exciter
Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1978A method is described for estimating the critical clearing time for a single-machine infinite-busbar power system where the generator is fitted with a saturable voltage regulator. The method is similar to Lyapunov's direct method, in that integration of the postfault swing equations is dispensed with.

With the development of virtual synchronous generator (VSG) techniques, parallel operations of synchronous generators (SGs) and VSGs become increasingly common in a microgrid. The differences between paralleled systems will affect the transient stability of the system, which probably threatens stable operation of the system, especially under fault ...

Modelling of Synchronous Generator for Transient Stability in Power System
2019 2nd International Conference on High Voltage Engineering and Power Systems (ICHVEPS), 2019Synchronous machine plays an important role in the power system. Stability of power system is concerned with the behavior of the synchronous machines after a disturbance. Modelling of synchronous generator is essential for a reliable analysis of stability performance and has practical value particularly in the stability analysis.
