Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A novel dynamic reactive power planning methodology to enhance transient voltage stability

open access: yes, 2017
Summary Transient voltage stability (TVS) is an important issue for security operation with the development of power system topology and loads. Lots of research on reactive power planning mainly focus on static voltage stability. But the research on the

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Coupled dynamics of voltage and calcium in paced cardiac cells

open access: yes, 2004
We investigate numerically and analytically the coupled dynamics of transmembrane voltage and intracellular calcium cycling in paced cardiac cells using a detailed physiological model and its reduction to a three-dimensional discrete map.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Intelligent Enhanced Method for Modern Power System Transient Voltage Stability Assessment Based on Improved Conditional Generative Adversarial Network

open access: yesEnergies
The increasing complexity and variability of operating conditions, along with the occurrence of low-probability cascading failures, imposes more stringent requirements on data-driven intelligent methods for power system stability analysis.

Output feedback transient stabilization and voltage regulation of synchronous generators [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, 2011
SUMMARYIn this brief note, we consider the transient stabilization and voltage regulation problem for a synchronous generator connected to an infinite bus. We show how a much simpler output feedback controller, compared with previous results, can be obtained if a different stability analysis is carried out: a suitable change of coordinates is performed

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Development of a state feedback controller for the synchronous buck converter [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A digital control algorithm for a current-mode (CM) and a voltage-mode (VM) synchronous buck converter (SBC) is developed. In both cases, the design leads to a stable controller, even for a duty cycle larger than 50%.
