Increasing Transit Ridership: A Survey of Successful Transit Systems in the 1990s

open access: yesJournal of Public Transportation, 2002
This study examines trends in public transit ridership in the United States during the 1990s. Specifically, it focuses on agencies that increased ridership during the latter half of the decade. While transit ridership increased steadily by 13 percent nationwide between 1995 and 1999, not all systems experienced ridership growth equally.

Mass transit options [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Choices on public transit options are choices about a city's future. Will there be congestion? Will there be high levels of air and noise pollution? Will transport be affordable? Will services be available to all?

Remaining Useful Life Modelling With an Escalator Health Condition Analytic System

open access: yesQuality and Reliability Engineering International, Volume 41, Issue 8, Page 3746-3758, December 2025.
ABSTRACT An escalator's refurbishment is usually linked with its design life as recommended by the manufacturer. However, the actual useful life of an escalator should be determined by its operating condition, which is affected by the runtime, workload, maintenance quality and vibration, rather than age only. The objective of this project is to develop
