A new view on exoplanet transits: Transit of Venus described using three-dimensional solar atmosphere Stagger-grid simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Stellar activity and, in particular, convection-related surface structures, potentially cause fluctuations that can affect the transit light curves. Surface convection simulations can help the interpretation of ToV.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

No Evidence for Lunar Transit in New Analysis of Hubble Space Telescope Observations of the Kepler-1625 System [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophysical Journal, 2019
Observations of the Kepler-1625 system with Kepler and the Hubble Space Telescope have suggested the presence of a candidate exomoon, Kepler-1625b I, a Neptune-radius satellite orbiting a long-period Jovian planet.

Microlensing Detections of Moons of Exoplanets

open access: yes, 2008
We investigate the characteristic of microlensing signals of Earth-like moons orbiting ice-giant planets. From this, we find that non-negligible satellite signals occur when the planet-moon separation is similar to or greater than the Einstein radius of ...

The impact of Hnrnpl deficiency on transcriptional patterns of developing muscle cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We performed nanopore whole‐transcriptome sequencing comparing RNA from Hnrnpl‐knockdown versus control C2C12 myoblasts to investigate the contributions of Hnrnpl to muscle development. Our results indicate that Hnrnpl regulates the expression of genes involved with Notch signaling and skeletal muscle, particularly splicing patterns of specific muscle ...

Grid Continuous Positioning Technology for Urban Rail Transit CBTC Wireless Environment Monitoring System Based on Inertial Navigation

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
Objective The current secondary positioning system of urban rail transit train beacons has a positioning accuracy of 300 meters, failing to meet the high-precision positioning requirements of wireless environment monitoring grid.

Prognostic Factors of Melanoma Patients with Satellite or In-Transit Metastasis at the Time of Stage III Diagnosis

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Background Prognosis of patients with loco-regional skin metastases has not been analyzed in detail and the presence or absence of concurrent lymph node metastasis represents the only established prognostic factor thus far.

Modeling the Orbital Sampling Effect of Extrasolar Moons

open access: yes, 2016
The orbital sampling effect (OSE) appears in phase-folded transit light curves of extrasolar planets with moons. Analytical OSE models have hitherto neglected stellar limb darkening and non-zero transit impact parameters and assumed that the moon is on a

A Multi‐Center Retrospective Cohort Study of Neurosarcoidosis Myelitis: Current Observations and Future Directions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The optimal treatment for neurosarcoidosis myelitis is uncertain. We characterize incident neurosarcoidosis myelitis and assess treatment response by MRI and clinical scales. Methods Incident probable or definite neurosarcoidosis myelitis in adults was retrospectively identified from 13 academic medical centers.

A SIMULATION MODEL OF A PACKET SWITCHING SATELLITE NETWORK WITH DIFFERENT ORBIT HEIGHTS SEGMENT

open access: yesРадіоелектронні і комп'ютерні системи, 2016
A simulation model of a packet switching satellite network based on a satellite constellation with different orbit heights is presented. The model is meant for analysis of load and data routing at the initial stages of designing of a satellite ...
