The Magnetic Susceptibility of the Transition Elements
Physical Review, 1954The available data on the temperature dependence of the paramagnetic susceptibility of the transition elements are reviewed. A theoretical treatment according to the band theory of solids is developed explicitly by means of a simple approximation to the Fermi function.

Amorphous Films of the Transition Elements
Physica Status Solidi (a), 1972Thin films of the transition elements Fe, Co, Ni, Mn, and Cr have been prepared, by low temperature condensation in ultra high vacuum, 10−9 Torr. on to liquid helium cooled substrates. Resistance measurements made during film deposition and the subsequent anneal to 500°K showed a gradual decrease in resistivity arising from continuous crystallite ...

Matrix Elements in Radiative Transitions
Proceedings of the Physical Society. Section A, 1953The matrix elements occurring in the theory of radiative transitions of electrons and positrons for a case of spherical symmetry are expanded in the general case as a series of radial integrals with known coefficients.

Vibrational Spectra of Transition Element Compounds
1986Laser-ablated scandium atoms react with H2O/N2 mixtures to give matrix-trapped (η1-N2)Sc(H)OH, (η1-N2)2Sc(H)OH and (η2-N2)Sc(H)OH.

Quadratic isoparametric elements as transition elements
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1986Abstract The use of the quadratic isoparametric elements as transition elements is presented. It is shown that good estimates for the stress-intensity factor solution can be obtained over a wide range of the quarter-point element length over the crack-length ratio, provided that the aspect ratio between the transition element and the quarter-point ...

The invention relates to a transition element (1) for use between two line systems having different connection elements. The aim of the invention is to be able to utilize the advantages of plug-in screw fittings in vacuum technology. To this end, a vacuum flange adapter (2) is used for the purpose of connecting a first line system comprising small ...

Superconductivity of transition elements
Physics Letters, 1962Garland (Proc. VIIIth Int. Conf. on Low Temperature Physics, London, 1962) has suggsted that the Coulomb interaction between the s electrons is screened in transition metals by the s-d electron cloud. He introduced a dielectric constant epsilon (q, omega ), and using a very specific model, he was able to prove that in a certain domain epsilon (q, omega
