Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Charge-Transfer Bonding in Metal–Arene Coordination [PDF]
X-ray crystallographic structures of donor–acceptor complexes of aromatic hydrocarbons with transition metals are re-examined with the focus on the arene ligands. Thus, significant structural and electronic changes are revealed in the arene moiety due to

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

FIRST-ROW TRANSITION METAL COMPLEXES OF OMEPRAZOLE AS ANTI-ULCERATIVE DRUGS
Omeprazole (OME) is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). PPIs have enabled to improve the treatment of various acid-peptic disorders. OME is a weak base and it can form several complexes with transition and non-transition metal ions.

Renormalization of Optical Excitations in Molecules near a Metal Surface
The lowest electronic excitations of benzene and a set of donor-acceptor molecular complexes are calculated for the gas phase and on the Al(111) surface using the many-body Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE).

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Recent advances in catalytic silylation of dinitrogen using transition metal complexes
Development of catalytic silylation of dinitrogen into silylamines using transition metal complexes under ambient reaction conditions precedes the development of catalytic transformation of dinitrogen into ammonia under ambient reaction conditions.

Photochemistry of transition metal hydrides [PDF]
Photochemical reactivity associated with metal-hydrogen bonds is widespread among metal hydride complexes and has played a critical part in opening up C-H bond activation. It has been exploited to design different types of photocatalytic reactions and to

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
