Transition-metal oxides for thermoelectric generation

open access: yesJournal of Electronic Materials, 2009
The relevance of (bulk) transition-metal oxides for thermoelectric generation is discussed. A large power factor (i.e., a large electronic conductivity coexisting with a large Seebeck coefficient) seems more easily achievable in either hopping-type ...

METAL-INSULATOR TRANSITIONS IN TRANSITION METAL OXIDES

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1971
There is a transition from band insulator to metal to Mott insulator with increasing number of d electrons in the transition metal oxides. In the (V1-xCrx)2O3 system a Mott transition occurs near x = 0.01. At high temperatures V2O3 and (V.99Cr.01)2 O3 are found to have similar resistivities and temperature coefficients of resistivity.

Transition-Metal Oxide (111) Bilayers [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Physical Society of Japan, 2018
Correlated electron systems on a honeycomb lattice have emerged as a fertile playground to explore exotic electronic phenomena. Theoretical and experimental work has appeared to realize novel behavior, including quantum Hall effects and valleytronics, mainly focusing on van der Waals compounds, such as graphene, chalcogenides, and halides.

Iron and other transition metals in Patagonian riverborne and windborne materials: Geochemical control and transport to the southern South Atlantic Ocean [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The bulk of particulate transition metals transported by Patagonian rivers shows an upper crustal composition. Riverine particulate 0.5 N HCl leachable trace metal concentrations are mainly controlled by Fe-oxides. Complexation of Fe by dissolved organic

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...
