Generalized “transition probability” [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics, 1975
An operationally meaningful symmetric function defined on pairs of states of an arbitrary physical system is constructed and is shown to coincide with the usual “transition probability” in the special case of systems admitting a quantum-mechanical description. It can be used to define a metric in the set of physical states.

Coal Seam Thickness Prediction Based on Transition Probability of Structural Elements

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Coal seam thickness prediction is crucial in coal mine design and coal mining. In order to improve the prediction accuracy, an improved Kriging interpolation method on the basis of efficient data and Radial Basis Function (RBF-Kriging) is firstly ...

Validation of fluorescence transition probability calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A systematic and quantitative validation of the K and L shell X-ray transition probability calculations according to different theoretical methods has been performed against experimental data.

An Adapted Discrete Lindley Model Emanating from Negative Binomial Mixtures for Autoregressive Counts

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
Analysing autoregressive counts over time remains a relevant and evolving matter of interest, where oftentimes the assumption of normality is made for the error terms. In the case when data are discrete, the Poisson model may be assumed for the structure

Transition Probabilities for Forbidden Lines [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Bureau of Standards Section A: Physics and Chemistry, 1964
A compilation is given of transition probabilities of forbidden lines which occur in the spectra of gaseous nebulae.

Pseudo-Qutrit Formed by Two Interacting Identical Spins (s = 1/2) in a Variable External Magnetic Field

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
An analytical solution is obtained for the problem of two interacting, identical but separated spin 1/2 particles in a time-dependent external magnetic field, in a general case. The solution involves isolating the pseudo-qutrit subsystem from a two-qubit

Interspecific variation in mortality and growth and changes in their relationship with size class in an old‐growth temperate forest

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
Understanding trade‐offs between demographic parameters is crucial when investigating community assembly rules in high‐diversity forests. To this end, we estimated mortality and growth parameters, and correlations among them, across entire size classes ...

A Physical Measure for Characterizing Crossover from Integrable to Chaotic Quantum Systems

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
In this paper, a quantity that describes a response of a system’s eigenstates to a very small perturbation of physical relevance is studied as a measure for characterizing crossover from integrable to chaotic quantum systems.

What is the probability of a thermodynamical transition? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
If the second law of thermodynamics forbids a transition from one state to another, then it is still possible to make the transition happen by using a sufficient amount of work.

Prediction analysis of the length of time for changes in the status of positive patients for covid-19 delta and omicron variants using the markov chain model

open access: yesDesimal, 2022
In this research, a Markov chain model was constructed from the conditions that might be experienced by the people during the Delta or Omicron variant of the COVID-19 pandemic.
