Wang-Landau study of the critical behaviour of the bimodal 3D-Random Field Ising Model

open access: yes, 2007
We apply the Wang-Landau method to the study of the critical behaviour of the three dimensional Random Field Ising Model with a bimodal probability distribution.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Transition Radiation by Neutrinos

open access: yes, 2011
We calculate the transition radiation process $\nu \to \nu \gamma$ at an interface of two media. The neutrinos are taken to be with only standard-model couplings. The medium fulfills the dual purpose of inducing an effective neutrino-photon vertex and of

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Benefits and risks of clofarabine in adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia investigated in depth by multi‐state modeling

open access: yesCancer Medicine
Background We recently reported results of the prospective, open‐label HOVON‐100 trial in 334 adult patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) randomized to first‐line treatment with or without clofarabine (CLO).

New families of subordinators with explicit transition probability semigroup [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
There exist only a few known examples of subordinators for which the transition probability density can be computed explicitly along side an expression for its L\'evy measure and Laplace exponent.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Net quark number probability distribution near the chiral crossover transition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate properties of the probability distribution of the net quark number near the chiral crossover transition in the quark-meson model. The calculations are performed within the functional renormalization group approach, as well as in the mean ...

Transitional probability and phoneme monitoring [PDF]

open access: yes4th International Conference on Spoken Language Processing (ICSLP 1996), 1996
Two phoneme monitoring experiments examined the influence of transitional probability (TP) on phoneme recognition. Target phonemes appeared at the end of consonant-vowel-consonant (CVC) syllables, or as the first element of coda clusters in CVCC syllables. Reliable TP effects were found only for targets in CVCC syllables.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...
