Modulation of homogeneous turbulence seeded with finite size bubbles or particles [PDF]
The dynamics of homogeneous, isotropic turbulence seeded with finite sized particles or bubbles is investigated in a series of numerical simulations, using the force-coupling method for the particle phase and low wavenumber forcing of the flow to sustain

Terahertz Channel Modeling, Estimation and Localization in RIS‐Assisted Systems
Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces have become a recent intensive research focus. Based on practical applications, channel strategies for RIS‐assisted terahertz wireless communication systems are categorized into three different types: channel modeling, channel estimation, and channel localization.

Automatic Transition Prediction and Application to High-Lift Multi-Element Configurations
A Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) solver, a laminar boundary layer code and an e(N)-database method for transition prediction were coupled in order to perform RANS computations of two-dimensional high-lift multi-element systems with automatic ...

Onset of meso-scale turbulence in active nematics
Bacteria continuously inject energy into their surroundings and thus induce chaotic like flows, namely meso-scale turbulence. Here, the authors show that transition to meso-scale turbulence and inertial turbulence observed in pipes share the same scaling

Transition to turbulence in a shear flow
We analyze the properties of a 19 dimensional Galerkin approximation to a parallel shear flow. The laminar flow with a sinusoidal shape is stable for all Reynolds numbers Re. For sufficiently large Re additional stationary flows occur; they are all unstable.

A coaxial, membrane‐integrated hollow fiber electrode assembly (HFEA) is developed for continuous marine carbon mineralization. By utilizing a sub‐millimeter inter‐electrode gap, the HFEA minimizes Ohmic losses, achieving 50% energy reduction and over 85% DIC removal.

Techniques for Turbulence Tripping of Boundary Layers in RANS Simulations
The exact placement of the laminar–turbulent transition has a significant effect on relevant characteristics of the boundary layer and aerodynamics, such as drag, heat transfer and flow separation on e.g. wings and turbine blades.

Direct and noisy transitions in a model shear flow
The transition to turbulence in flows where the laminar profile is linearly stable requires perturbations of finite amplitude. “Optimal” perturbations are distinguished as extrema of certain functionals, and different functionals give different optima ...
