Trophic and Microbial Dynamics in a Mediterranean Transitional Ecosystem (Lake Faro, Southern Italy): Implications for Pinna nobilis Conservation

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Transitional water bodies are coastal areas of strategic naturalistic and socio-economic importance, and highly vulnerable to increased anthropic pressure. A monitoring study was performed in the transitional area of Lake Faro (Cape Peloro Lagoon, Italy),

Transitional Dynamics in the Uzawa-Lucas Model of Endogenous Growth [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we solve an N N N players differential game with logarithmic objective functions. The optimization problem considered here is based on the Uzawa Lucas model of endogenous growth.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Projected compositional reorganization of Southern plant assemblages in South Korea under climate scenarios using species distribution models

open access: yesScientific Reports
Understanding how plant communities reorganize under climate change is essential for effective biodiversity conservation and restoration. We developed a spatially explicit, multi-scenario framework to evaluate future dynamics of southern (warm-temperate ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Growth and Firm Dynamics with Horizontal and Vertical R&D [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper develops a tournament model of horizontal and vertical R&D under a lab-equipment specification. A key feature is that the overall growth rate is endogenous, as the splitting of the growth rate between the intensive and the extensive margin is ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.
