Dynamics and dynamical transitions in proteins

2014
Neutron scattering experiments and molecular dynamics simulations are the most effective tools to explore the dynamics of hydrogen in proteins. The mean square displacement (MSD) of hydrogen (H ) in proteins has been extensively measured using neutron scattering and calculated using molecular dynamics simulations.

Dynamic Plane Transitive Closure

2007
In this paper we study the problem of transitive closure in dynamic directed plane graphs. We show a dynamic algorithm supporting updates and queries in worst-case O(√n) time. This is the first known algorithm for this problem with almost linear update time and query time product.

On the dynamics of the phase transition in phenanthrene

Journal of Molecular Structure, 1986
The temperature dependence of the phonon frequencies and bandwidths has been studied using Raman spectroscopy between 293 and 350 K. It can be seen that in the region of the phase transition at≈347 K there is a change in the slope of both curves. We have tried to explain these features by means of reorientation of molecules.

Dynamic transition in etching with poisoning

Physical Review E, 2003
We study a lattice model for etching of a crystalline solid including the deposition of a poisoning species. The model considers normal and lateral erosion of the columns of the solid by a flux of etching particles and the blocking effects of impurities formed at the surface.

Dynamics of the electroweak phase transition

Physical Review D, 1993
We apply recent advances in equilibrium and nonequilibrium finite-temperature field theory to the dynamics of the electroweak phase transition in the early Universe. The equation of state and the parameters that enter the nucleation rate, including the preexponential factor, are calculated in the one-loop plus ring-diagram approximation in the standard

Dynamics of the orientational roughening transition

Physical Review B, 1993
We use the renormalization-group method to study the dynamics of the sine-Gordon model for the orientational roughening transition.

Dynamics of the critical wetting transition

Physical Review B, 1985
The presence of long-range van der Waals forces in a system which undergoes a critical wetting transition gives rise to an unusually large relaxation time \ensuremath{\tau} which scales as \ensuremath{\Vert}T-${T}_{w}$${\ensuremath{\Vert}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}5}$, where ${T}_{w}$ is the wetting temperature.

Dynamics of the Liquid-Solid Transition

Physical Review Letters, 1970
Associated with the stability limit of the liquid phase, we find a soft mode with purely imaginary frequency at a wave vector corresponding to the first peak of the structure factor. The corresponding critical fluctuations show up in neutron-scattering experiments as the de Gennes narrowing of the quasielastic peak.
